This is always one of the most exciting times of the year for boys' soccer in the PNW! All the Conference and District Tourneys are completed and Champions have been crowned. Now it is time for the top teams in the region to battle for that coveted WIAA 4A Washington State Title!

The opening rounds of the 2026 4A Boys State Soccer Tournament took place this week and there were some great matches. Five of the eight opening round matches saw the Top Seeds winning. Newport, Sumner, Stadium, Eastmont and Skyline all made it through to the quarterfinals this weekend! Rounding out the top eight were the spoilers. Mount Si, Issaquah and Lincoln all beat their higher seeded opponents in convincing fashion. To put a little more salt in the wound, they were all wins by shutout! The #15 seeded Mount Si Wildcats had an epic victory over the #2 seeded Chiawana Riverhawks with a 2-0 shutout while #13 Issaquah and #11 Lincoln took down #4 Davis and #6 Skyview respectively with decisive 3-0 victories to punch their tickets to the quarters.

The quarterfinals are now underway with some matches already decided! Let's take a look at what occurred:

In a script straight out of the movies, #8 Sumner took down the top seeded Stadium Tigers at their home field on Friday night with a 3-1 victory. This coming after the Sumner Spartans lost the District Title game at home to Stadium just a week prior. The Spartans did not have to wait very long for their revenge. Goals came from Nathan Prenovost, [player_tooltip player_id='284534' first='Bergen' last='Eriksson'] and Gannon Vanderhoof to secure the victory and send the 2026 SPSL Champions to the semifinal match next week against the winner of the #13 Issaquah and #5 Newport match.

In a battle of the Wildcats, #7 Eastmont took on a very hot and talented #15 Mount Si squad but the Wildcats from the eastside of the mountains prevailed with a 3-1 scoreline. Aaron Leon had the brace while Angel Ortega had the solo goal. The Eastmont Wildcats have been on their own hot streak, coming into this match with a 5-game unbeaten stretch. Eastmont is slated to take on the under seeded and dynamic #11 Lincoln Lynx in the semifinals on March 29th.

The Cinderella story continues for a Lincoln squad who just three years ago won a WIAA State Championship in 3A and is now vying for another State Title but in the 4A class! #11 Lincoln took down a powerful Skyline team who was the #3 seed in the State Tourney. This OT victory put them one win away from playing for the State Title they are seeking!

The 2026 4A postseason has been an exciting time for boys' soccer in the PNW. Tons of fire power and goal scoring, fantastic GK work and upsets galore. The semifinals will be epic and the WIAA 4A Washington State Championship match should be one for the ages no matter who is paired!

Though predictions are not something I tend to delve into but, today I will make an exception. I could see any combination of the quarterfinal winners being in the Championship match (Lincoln, Eastmont, Sumner or Issaquah/Newport) but I am feeling like a couple teams who grind out physical wins will be battling to raise that Washington State Championship Trophy on May 30th at Sparks Stadium:
