US Youth National Team player and North Carolina commit Evelyn Shores had 27 goals and 24 assists. And that's just the attacking players. The defense was led by Georgia commit Kiera Staude at center back, Virginia signee Helen Symbas on defense and Richmond signee Sydney Moore in goal. Westminster defeated the NC Independent state champ along with the No. 2 and 3-ranked teams in Oklahoma. The team's lone setback was to FAB 50-ranked Blessed Trinity, but more than made up for that result by defeating three common opponents by a 20-2 margin while Blessed Trinity went 2-0-1 against that group. Westminster capped the season with a 4-0 victory over Greater Atlanta Christian, the team that tied Blessed Trinity. |

NOTES: St. Dominic edged Nerinx Hall in penalty kicks following a scoreless match to capture its third straight state title and second straight in Class 4. St. Dominic won the 2019 Class 3 crown. There was no tournament in 2020. After beating Nerinx Hall in last year's final 3-1, this year's contest went down to the final two kicks. Oklahoma State signee Grace Bindbeutel gave St. Dominic a 3-1 edge in the shootout, then junior keeper Katy Fitzler delivered a save to seal the title. Bindbeutel and Julia Shoults, who converted the team's first goal in the shootout, were St. Louis Post-Dispatch first-team honorees while Missouri signee Jessica Larson was a second-team pick and Fitzler on third team.
Season complete. Missouri Class 3 runner-up, losing to St. Dominic. School Facts: Private, 600 students, grades 9-12. NOTES: For the second straight season, Nerinx Hall lost to St. Dominic in the Class 4 state final. This time, the result was on penalty kicks following a scoreless match. The team's top performer this year was junior Nina Preusser, who had 17 goals and 13 assists en route to a St. Louis Post-Dispatch first-team selection. During the regular season, Nerinx Hall defeated eventual Illinois state champion Metea Valley.
Season complete. Illinois Class 3A state champion. School Facts: Public, 3,015 students, grades 9-12. NOTES: Following a 4-2 loss to Nerinx Hall (Mo.), Metea Valley strung together 14 straight victories and captured the school's first girls soccer state title in a shootout win over Barrington. The match ended in a scoreless tie. Metea Valley won the shootout 6-5. Juniors Jordan Lange and Tyra King, who both converted their shootout attempts, were first-team all-state honorees. Senior Abbey Ondrus converted the game-winning penalty kick for Metea Valley.
Season complete. Georgia Class 6A state champion. School Facts: Public, 1,980 students, grades 9-12. NOTES: Freshman keeper Malia Loadwick stopped four penalty kicks in the shootout as Lassiter capped an undefeated season with a state final win over Cambridge. It's only fitting that Lassiter won with defense as it is the strength of this program. The Citadel signee Celeste Nader, a defender, was named the Cobb County Player of the Year. Nena Watts, a junior defender who was part of a U.S. U17 Women's National Team virtual camp in 2021, also was a first-team all-county selection.
Season complete. Missouri Class 4 third-place finisher. School Facts: Public, 2,230 students, grades 9-12. NOTES: Liberty North's perfect season came to an end with a state semifinal loss to St. Dominic. The team rallied for a consolation match victory over Rock Bridge. Liberty North was led by junior standout Meghan Hinnenkamp, who has verbally committed to Florida. Junior Ekaterina Theoharidis also was a first-team all-state performer, while junior Emilee Person and sophomore Lauren Wood were second-team all-state honorees. Liberty North, which was in the running for the FAB 50 No. 1 spot before the postseason loss, could be in the national title chase next spring if all of those key players return.
Season complete. South Carolina Class AAAAA state champion. School Facts: Public, 3,330 students, grades 9-12. NOTES: Wando rolled off 17 straight wins to close out the season and claim the program's eighth state title during coach Shannon Champ's 17 years at the helm. Sophomore Kylie Cino netted the game-winner in a 2-1 state final victory over T.L. Hanna. Ansley Douty scored the team's other goal in the final. Wando was led by Citadel signee Kennedi Walker, who was the region Player of the Year. Other all-region performers were seniors and UT Chattanooga signees Kaleigh Bosak and Caroline Richvalsky, USC Upstate signee Morgan de Barros and Cino.
Season complete. Missouri Class 3 state champion. School Facts: Public, 1,375 students, grades 9-12. NOTES: Audrey Smith scored three goals and Brooke Cattoor added a goal and two assists as Fort Zumwalt South defeated Springfield Glendale 5-3 in a state final that was not as close as the final score indicates. Smith and/or Cattoor factored in every goal as Fort Zumwalt South jumped out to a 4-0 lead and led 5-1 before a pair of late Glendale goals. Smith, a sophomore, ended the season with a school-record 35 goals. Cattoor, a junior and Class 3 Player of the Year, had 34 goals and 24 assists. Both were St. Louis Post-Dispatch first-team selections.
Season complete. Illinois sectional runner-up. School Facts: Public, 2,715 students, grades 9-12. NOTES: Naperville North's season ended with a sectional final loss to eventual state champion Metea Valley. Madison Korosec was a first-team all-state selection. Cameron Dinkla, Abby Haskell and Lucy Iverson were all-section picks. Naperville North plays a demanding regular season schedule, which was highlighted this year by two wins over eventual state runner-up Barrington. Two of the team's losses were to Metea Valley and the other was an early season match that went to penalty kicks.
Season complete. Illinois Class 3A state runner-up. School Facts: Public, 2,875 students, grades 9-12. NOTES: Barrington went 0-3 against teams ranked higher in the FAB 50, but 23-0 against everyone else. Barrington, a perennial state title challenger, lost in the state finals in a shootout to Metea Valley following a scoreless match. Barrington's lineup featured Brooke Brown, a Cornell commit, and Nicole Gwiasda, who were first-team all-state selections, and Kathleen Baker and Abby Raynor, a pair of all-section selections.
Virginia Class 5 state runner-up. School Facts: Public, 1,800 students, grades 9-12. NOTES: First Colonial had bookend losses on an otherwise stellar season. First Colonial began the year with a loss to South County and ended the season with a loss to Briar Woods in the state Class 5 state final. During the season, First Colonial defeated Kellam, which beat South County in the postseason, which affected the order of those teams for the final ranking. The team was led by Longwood signee Karleigh Minson, who finished the season with 34 goals and 14 assists.

NOTES: Lincoln-Way Central lost to Metea Valley in the state semifinals then defeated Evanston in the consolation match to secure third place in Class 3A. Jenni Andjelic was a first-team all-state selection while Christine Erdman and Alexa Hadley were all-section honorees.
Virginia Class 6 state runner-up. School Facts: Public, 1,950 students, grades 9-12. NOTES: Virginia Commonwealth signee Chloe Limbach scored all three goals in Kellam's 3-1 state semifinal win over then FAB 50 No. 1 South County, but couldn't carry that success into the state final. Kellam lost to Yorktown 1-0 in the Class 6 final. Kellam also lost a 1-0 state final to Yorktown in 2017. Kellam's only other loss this season was to First Colonial.
Virginia Class 6 state semifinalist. School Facts: Public, 2,285 students, grades 9-12. NOTES: South County's bid for a second straight undefeated season ended with a 3-1 loss to Kellam in the state semifinals. During the regular season, South County defeated eventual Class 6 chap Yorktown and Class 5 runner-up First Colonial. The senior-heavy squad was led by Maryland signee Brooke Birrell and Duquesne signee Abby Coangelo, both Washington Post All-Met first-team picks. The team also featured Northeastern signee Lauren Dupont, Dartmouth signee Jaidyn Curry, Miami (Fla.) signee Tusca Mahmoudpour and George Washington signee Avril Silva.
Michigan Division 1 state champion. School Facts: Public, 1,710 students, grades 9-12. NOTES: Sophomore keeper Jenica Opdahl delivered a pair of saves in the shootout to help Bloomfield Hills, making its first ever state final appearance, stun previously undefeated Northville in the final. Regulation and two overtimes finished with the teams deadlocked at 1. Senior Ava Badallo scored Bloomfield Hills' regulation goal. Bloomfield Hills ended the season on a 14-match undefeated run. Opdahl, Drew Martin and Alice Spiegel were all Michigan Division 1 first-team all-state selections.
Michigan Division 1 state runner-up. School Facts: Public, 2,510 students, grades 9-12. NOTES: Despite having the better of play for long stretches, Northville fell to Bloomfield Hills in a state final shootout. Bloomfield Hills went ahead in the second half before Katie Gonzalez scored on a header from a corner kick service from Cincinnati signee Lauren Moraitis. In the state semifinals, Northville knocked off Rochester in a battle of undefeated teams.

NOTES: After reaching the state semifinals, Evanston lost back-to-back matches, first to Barrington in the state semifinals and then Lincoln-Way Central in the third-place match. Florida International signee Brealyn Viamille was a first-team all-state selection. Nahla Dominguez and Baylor commit Adriana Merriam were all-section honorees.
