Throughout the season, PrepSoccer.net will focus on the top candidates for the PrepSoccer All-America honors. Today, we check out the leading girls forward candidates for fall-playing states. There will be additional players added to the Watch List in the upcoming weeks. Also, it’s important to note, some players toggle between midfield and forward and might be listed under the midfielders in this go-around. From match observation and coach recommendations, here are some names to know:

TOP ALL-AMERICA CANDIDATES

(in alphabetical order)

[player_tooltip player_id="33196" first="Lindsey" last="Antonson"], Wilsonville (Ore.), Sr., Oregon State
Antonson entered the fall season 46 goals shy of tying the state’s all-time scoring mark of 133 held by Callan Harrington, who currently plays for Oregon State. That number might seem daunting, but considering Antonson scored 46 as a sophomore, it is certainly doable. Wilsonville is 12-0-1 entering the stretch run of regular season play.
[player_tooltip player_id="26209" first="Caroline" last="Betts"], Christ Presbyterian Academy (Tenn.), Sr., Vanderbilt
Betts will close out a storied high school career this week as CPA will compete in the Tennessee Division II-AA state playoffs. The Vanderbilt commit has 26 goals and 16 assists this season and recently topped the 200-goal mark for her career.
[player_tooltip player_id="27475" first="Lily" last="Boyden"], Skyline (Utah), Sr., Washington State
The Washington State commit made her high school debut a magical one. The senior, playing high school for the first time, finished the season with 34 goals and 12 assists while leading Skyline to a 20-0 season and a Class 5A state title.
[player_tooltip player_id="27526" first="Seven" last="Castain"], Waterford (Utah), Sr., Texas Christian
The TCU-bound forward scored a staggering 71 goals while leading Waterford to a 15-2 season, capped with a 2A state title. That’s 4.2 goals per match! Waterford scored 115 goals on the season and avenged its two regular-season losses with a 4-3 state final win over Rowland Hall. Castain scored all four of her team’s goals.
[player_tooltip player_id="22237" first="Addie" last="Chester"], Delta (Ind.), Sr., Louisville
A scoring sensation since Day 1, Chester finished the 15-game schedule with a staggering 55 goals. The total gave her 201 for her storied career at this small Indiana high school. While the goal total might be inflated given the level of competition, the talent is unquestioned. Chester was even named to the ECNL Under-17 All-America squad this past summer, one of only 15 players to receive such an honor.
[player_tooltip player_id="33194" first="Taylor" last="Krueger"], Portland Jesuit (Ore.), Sr., Saint Louis
The Saint Louis commit has a team-high 12 goals and seven assists as Portland Jesuit again is ranked among the nation’s elite teams. Portland Jesuit enters the week at 12-1.
[player_tooltip player_id="25886" first="Leah" last="Malone"], Pennridge (Pa.), Sr., High Point
Malone had Pennridge riding high until a late-season slump. Still, the Rams are one of the favorites in a wide-open District 1-AAAA playoff race. Malone has 14 goals and eight assists this season as the team enters postseason play.
[player_tooltip player_id="25931" first="Maya" last="McDermott"], Springside Chestnut Hill (Pa.), Sr., Syracuse
The Syracuse commit has 12 goals and nine assists while leading Springside Chestnut Hill to a 13-0-1 record. SCH is ranked among the Top 20 fall teams as it enters the final week of regular-season play.
[player_tooltip player_id="22955" first="Meredith" last="McDermott"], Buckingham Browne & Nichols (Mass.), Sr., Virginia
McDermott has scored 18 goals while leading BB&N to a 12-0 record and the Prep Top 10 No. 1 ranking. In fact, BB&N — a prep school, thus ineligible for the FAB 50 — is likely the most talented fall girls high school team in the nation with three high-end All-America candidates.
[player_tooltip player_id="26207" first="Brinley" last="Murphy"], Bearden (Tenn.), Jr., South Carolina
The three-year starter has helped Bearden to an 18-0-1 record and a FAB 50 No. 3 ranking this season. The South Carolina commit has 24 goals and 11 assists.
[player_tooltip player_id="29403" first="Shae" last="O’Rourke"], St. Mary’s (N.Y.), Sr., South Carolina
The Western New York scoring machine went over 300 career points with her performance last week. O’Rourke has guided Nichols to a 14-2-1 season, and both losses came early to state-ranked teams.
[player_tooltip player_id="29324" first="Violet" last="Rademacher"], Rocky Mountain (Idaho), Sr., Portland
Rademacher was named 5A Southern Conference Player of the Year after leading Rocky Mountain to the conference title. Rocky Mountain was a fixture in the FAB 50 rankings this fall until getting upset by rival Boise in the state semifinals, ending Rocky Mountain’s bid for four straight state titles.
[player_tooltip player_id="22759" first="Sophie" last="Reale"], Hingham (Mass.), Jr.
Reale can also be found in the midfield for nationally ranked Hingham. She's the younger sister of UCLA standout Lily Reale, and the two previously played one season of high school soccer together. Now, it’s Sophie’s turn to lead Hingham. Her biggest performances this year were a two-goal, three-assist outing in a win over Hanover and a three-goal outburst in a victory over North Quincy. She scored 20 goals during a shortened 2020 season and appears well on the way to repeating that accomplishment in 2021.
[player_tooltip player_id="23792" first="Kayla" last="Reed"], East Brunswick (N.J.), Sr.
Reed has helped perennial state title challenger to a 13-2 season so far and she has scored 18 goals with 11 assists. Reed’s most recent goal was the difference in East Brunswick’s 1-0 win over Old Bridge in the Greater Middlesex Conference tournament semifinals.
[player_tooltip player_id="24302" first="Summer" last="Reimet"], Ocean City (N.J.), Sr., Monmouth
Reimet’s scoring tear early in the season helped Ocean City make an appearance in the FAB 50 Top 10 before an upset loss. The team fell in the rankings, but are climbing back up behind this scoring sensation. Reimet has 52 scored 52 of the team’s 91 goals during a 17-1 start to the season.
[player_tooltip player_id="20914" first="Sydney" last="Segalla"], Housatonic Valley (Conn.), Sr., Boston College
The Boston College commit has been worth just about two goals per match for Housatonic Valley this season. She’s a three-time all-league and all-state selection, and her performance so far this fall appears to have secured four-time all-league and all-state honors.
[player_tooltip player_id="22647" first="Kelsey" last="Smith"], McDonogh School (Md.), Sr., Maryland
Smith is having a stellar campaign considering what she has gone through the past two seasons. She has 16 goals and two assists for McDonogh, one of the top-ranked teams in Maryland. Smith was a freshman and sophomore starter for the Eagles, but the school opted not to field school teams last year during the pandemic. In addition to losing her junior high school season, Smith suffered an ACL injury that kept her away from play for 10 months.
[player_tooltip player_id="33257" first="Logan" last="Smith"], Boise (Idaho), Sr., Stanford
Smith is probably the top senior college prospect in Idaho and among the best all-around athletes on this list. In addition to her standout soccer career, where she led Boise to a state runner-up finish this fall, she’s also a cross country and track standout, as well as a national lever skier in her youth. Smith was the runner-up for conference player of the year to another forward on this list, [player_tooltip player_id="29324" first="Violet" last="Rademacher"].
[player_tooltip player_id="22992" first="Samantha" last="Suplee"], Buckingham Browne & Nichols (Mass.), Sr., Michigan
With teammate [player_tooltip player_id="22955" first="Meredith" last="McDermott"] pouring in the goals, Supple, a Michigan commit, does not need to score as often as she did during her sophomore year. Still, Suplee has eight goals as BB&N is off to a 12-0 start.
[player_tooltip player_id="22252" first="Amelia" last="White"], Homestead (Ind.), Sr., Penn State
[player_tooltip player_id="22252" first="Amelia" last="White"] has one match remaining in her high school career — and it’s this weekend for a state title. The Penn State commit missed the state semifinal since she was in the U.S. Under-20 National Team training camp this past week. White has led Homestead to a 21-0 record with 24 goals and 15 assists. She scored three goals in the team’s 4-2 surprise win over then top-ranked Noblesville in what was the state playoff round of 16.
[player_tooltip player_id="28219" first="Jayce" last="Woodward"], Seattle Prep (Wash.), Sr., Southern Cal
A rash of injuries removed a lot of firepower for Seattle Prep, yet Woodward is still doing her part. The Southern Cal commit has 10 goals and three assists for a team that has only netted 23 goals all season.
