Round 2 of the Wisconsin High School State Playoffs are in the books. Here’s a look at some of the top performances from that round:
<strong>F [player_tooltip player_id="32548" first="Nick" last="Magner"], Marquette, Sr.</strong>
Magner was responsible for all four goals in Marquette's second-round playoff game, scoring two goals and assisting on two.
<strong>GK [player_tooltip player_id="30971" first="Kevin" last="Ramirez"], DePere, Sr.</strong>
An outstanding game for Ramirez as DePere upset the section No. 1 seed Bay Port in PKs Saturday. Ramirez made 10 saves in the contest despite allowing two goals. Next up is the No. 5 seed Sussex Hamilton on Thursday.
<strong>M Riley Stevens, Sun Prairie, Jr.</strong>
The junior was responsible for both of Sun Prairie's goals in a 2-1 win over Middleton. Sun Prairie has a date with Arrowhead coming up in the next round.
<strong>F Owen Backus, Elkhorn, So.</strong>
Backus had a hat trick in Elkhorn’s 6-0 win over Monona Grove. The sophomore forward is part of a very young and talented Elkhorn core looking to make a run in Division 2. Elkhorn will face Baraboo Thursday.
<strong>M/D [player_tooltip player_id="18455" first="Jack" last="Leffel"], Kettle Moraine Lutheran, Sr.</strong>
A goal and assist for Leffel in KML’s 2-1 upset over New Berlin West. A super sleeper in Division 3, Kettle Moraine Lutheran face NB Eisenhower next.
<strong>F Michael Poquette Jr, Waukesha West, Jr.</strong>
Poquette had a goal and two assists in a 4-3 win at Greendale. Next up is the top seed Wauwatosa East.
<strong>F [player_tooltip player_id="18437" first="Denis" last="Krioutchenkov"], Shorewood, Jr.</strong>
Scored two more goals this weekend to add to his 48-goal, 11-assist season. Will face Pius XI Catholic next.
<strong>M/D Matt Sundarajan, New Belin West, Sr.</strong>
A four-assist game for Sundarajan as New Berlin West took down MSOLI. One of the best small school prospects in Wisconsin.
<strong>F [player_tooltip player_id="31513" first="Emmett" last="Lawton"], Green Bay Notre Dame, Jr.</strong>
A four-goal performance in Round 2 for an outstanding player being overlooked recently. But it gets tougher from here.
