BB&N – Perfect Knights!
In this article:
If there was ever a question about just how good is the girls soccer team at Buckingham Browne & Nichols (Mass.), it got answered in 90 minutes last Sunday.
BB&N capped a perfect 21-0 season by thrashing No. 2-ranked Worcester Academy (Mass.) 5-0 in the Prep A final.
That’s right 5-0 … over the nation’s second-best prep school team … a team that was undefeated against all competition other than BB&N.
The perfect season lands BB&N a second straight Prep Top 10 No. 1 finish to cap an amazing run.
On Sunday, BB&N took a 2-0 first-half lead, tacked on a goal early in the second half, and ran away with a second straight NEPSAC Class A. Sam Suplee Sam Suplee F Buckingham Browne & Nichols | 2022 MA scored twice and Lila Sullivan, Frankie Valverde, and Meredith McDermott Meredith McDermott F Buckingham Browne and Nichols | 2022 NH added goals in the final.
Molly Martin Molly Martin D MA , a center mid and defensive specialist, anchored a squad that outscored the opposition 85-2 this season. In fact, BB&N did not allow a goal over its last 17 matches, which included a perfect run of shutouts through the 12-match ISL league and three playoff contests.
Martin, who has been one of the top prospects in the Class of 2022 since before her freshman year, has signed with Penn State. McDermott is headed to Virginia, Suplee to Michigan, and Sarah Sullivan Sarah Sullivan M BBN | 2022 MA to Penn.
BB&N won the Class A title in 2019 and finished atop the final rankings that season with fellow ISL rival Rivers School. Due to COVID, there was no 2020 season. The Prep Top 10 was expanded to a top 15 this year due to the high quality of prep school teams. These are programs that are not eligible for the FAB 50 rankings due to the fact schools in these leagues allow for post-grads.
