Here are the standouts from the tournament:
Shane Clancy, St. Augustine, Sr., Defender
Regarded as one of the top defenders in South Jersey, Clancy has been a rock for his St. Augustine side all season and continued his performance this past week. With a unique skill set, the senior defender has the ability to ping any pass he wants at any given time and uses his elite vision and strength to position himself in the right spot all game long. Adding a goal to his tournament resume, Clancy proves to be a danger in the air and showed all his talents this past week.
Jeff Heineman, Kingsway, Jr., Defender
Touted as one of the best defenders in South Jersey, Heineman was nothing short of spectacular for the tournament’s finalists, anchoring a backline that kept three clean sheets in four games. The junior defender has made a name for himself since his freshman year and with good reason. One of the most reliable defenders you can have, Heineman is as vocal as they come and reads the game better than anyone on the field, resulting in his recognition from this high-powered tournament.
AJ Henry, Kingsway, Sr., Goalkeeper
With an eye-popping performance, Henry led the tournament finalists through a tough road by recording 15 saves and three shutouts for his Kingsway side. The senior keeper has been seen as one of the best goalies in the area, with his physical attributes as the main reason why. With lightning-quick reactions, elite positioning, and strong hands on the goal line, Henry was arguably the goalkeeper of the tournament with his outstanding performance all tournament long.
Sean Kennedy, Cinnaminson, Sr., Goalkeeper
The definition of a stud goalkeeper, Kennedy put on an outstanding performance for the tournament winners, recording 25 saves to go along with two shutouts that included a crucial penalty shootout win. With extremely fast reflexes and positioning, the senior goalie was able to make several crucial saves to rescue Cinnaminson’s run. Kennedy has been a showstopper all season long and his elite skills were on display during this prestigious tournament.
Colin Kenville, Cinnaminson, Sr., Forward/Midfielder
Defined as a tricky athlete, the senior forward/midfielder can do it all when he’s on the pitch. Attributing a goal and an assist each, Kenville’s outstanding movement on and off the ball, opened up space for his Cinnaminson side to thrive in every circumstance. With the ability to turn nothing into a dangerous scoring opportunity, he displayed his talents for all to see to continue his strong senior season.
Nate Schultes, West Deptford, Sr., Forward
Schultes was all over the park for a strong West Deptford side. The senior forward netted two goals while providing three assists in a strong showing throughout the tournament. While being strong on the ball, he is able to change pace in an instant and become a nightmare for opposing defenses due to his ability to press hard and force defenses into mistakes.
Nathan Weick, Cinnaminson, Sr., Midfielder
A star midfielder in South Jersey, Weick is able to control the midfield without batting an eye. Finding open spaces and winning the ball back is second nature to the senior midfielder, resulting in two goals and one assist, captaining Cinnaminson to their first Coaches Tournament win since 1979. Aggressive on and off the ball, Weick’s standout performance puts him as one of the best players in this tournament.
