FRIDAY

7 p.m.: No. 2 Whitefish Bay (18-3-2) vs. No. 3 Brookfield Central (12-3-4)
The winners will play in the championship at Uihlein Park at 7 p.m. Saturday.
No. 1 Oregon (20-0-3) vs. No. 4 River Falls (13-5-2)
The Panthers are Wisconsin’s lone unbeaten program. Oregon survived a close one Saturday in the WIAA sectional championship, beating Elkhorn in a penalty shootout. Mason and Kellen Dierks have been the core of Oregon’s successes this season. Meanwhile, Coach Jacob Langer leads River Falls to their first state series since 2015. River Falls has played in some very close games recently, but this will be their toughest test of the season.
Score Prediction: Oregon 3, River Falls 1
No. 2 Whitefish Bay (18-3-2) vs. No. 3 Brookfield Central (12-3-4)
Definitely the more intriguing matchup in the 2A state tournament. The dynamic duo of top in Mitchell Dryden Mitchell Dryden F Whitefish Bay | 2022 WI and Ben Grimm Ben Grimm F Whitefish Bay | 2022 WI have given defenses problems all season for Whitefish Bay’s opponents. The only in-state opponent they lost to this season was Marquette (1-0 on the road from an own goal). But expect Brookfield Central to give them a run for their money. Like Whitefish Bay, they have similar results against strong competition around the state. Expect this one to go down to the final minutes.
Score Prediction: Whitefish Bay 1, Brookfield Central 1, Whitefish Bay advances on PKs.
State Championship Prediction: Whitefish Bay 2, Oregon 1
Oregon would have yet to play a team with this much talent, and the experience will cost them in the end. Losing their chances of an undefeated season.
