Here’s a look at Wednesday’s key results:
5th ANNUAL SoCAL COLLEGE SHOWCASE
Following Tuesday’s opening round, Wednesday’s action belonged to the defenses. In four matches, only four goals were scored — and three of them in one match. The big surprise of the day came when St. Augustine upset Servite 1-0.
St. Augustine (Calif.) 1, Servite (Calif.) 0: St. Augustine pulled out the upset of the day, knocking off FAB 50 No. 15 Servite.
De La Salle (Calif.) 2, Loyola (Calif.) 1: Charlie Hogan scored the game-winner as De La Salle edged Loyola in a clash on perennial private school section title challengers. Caden Ambrose scored for Loyola.
Bellarmine Prep (Calif.) 0, Cathedral (Calif.) 0.
St. Paul’s (La.) 0, Orange Lutheran (Calif.) 0.
Wednesday’s Standout Players
M Will Allen, St. Paul’s (La.), Sr. — directed the attack and played multiple positions.
D Elio Cipriano, Orange Lutheran (Calif.), Sr.
F Charlie Hogan, De La Salle (Calif.), Sr. — A left wing, Hogan created a lot in the attacking third and was rewarded by scoring the game-winner.
D Ulises Lopez-Bonilla, Orange Lutheran (Calif.), Jr. — Transfer from El Modena now has two starts at center back and both ended up as shutout performances.
M Nathan Marlow, Orange Lutheran (Calif.), Sr. — A second-half sub who won aerial duels and regained possession for Orange Lutheran numerous times.
D Joe Padden, Loyola (Calif.), Sr.
M Max Pellegrini, St. Paul’s (La.), Jr.
D Lucas Pfister, De La Salle (Calif.), Jr. — Another left-sided player, Pfister paired with Hogan to give De La Salle a strong presence on the left side. Pfister also got into the attack.

26th ANNUAL SoCAL HIGH SCHOOL CLASSIC
Semifinals
Torrey Pines (Calif.) 4, Richmond (Calif.) 2: Torrey Pines scored twice in each half to rolled to a semifinal victory and into Thursday’s championship match.
San Clemente (Calif.) 3, San Dieguito (Calif.) 0: San Clemente received goals from three players as the Tritons stayed undefeated to reach the championship match. Senior Niko Kaczmarczyk scored, along with sophomores Brady Lloyd and Finn Linas.
Consolation
Hoover (Calif.) 2, Los Alamitos (Calif.) 1.
San Pasqual (Calif.) 3, Long Beach Wilson (Calif.) 1.
In the Showcase West semifinals, Oceanside and San Marcos won to advance to the final.
