The winter season has started in the Southeast, and the Southwest states of Arizona and California start play this week. Each week throughout December and January, we will add an additional 10 or more players to the PrepSoccer.net Winter All-America Watch List.
Here are the next 10 to start the season:
M Will Allen, St. Paul’s (La.), Sr., Christian Brothers
Allen has given two strong performances at the SoCal College Showcase. The Christian Brothers commit is a versatile midfielder, capable of playing several offensive positions.
F [player_tooltip player_id="15890" first="Brennan" last="Bezdek"], Frisco Wakeland (Texas), Sr.
Bezdek is the most decorated player returning to high school soccer in the DFW this winter. He was the named the Dallas Morning News Player of the Year following last season’s 26-goal, 12-assist season. He earned state tournament MVP honors after leading Wakeland to a state title. In the final, Bezdek had a goal and one assist. He also picked up Class 5A first-team all-state honors, as well.
D Elio Cipriano, Orange Lutheran (Calif.), Sr.
Cipriano’s play helped Orange Lutheran shut out Cathedral (Calif.) and St. Paul’s (La.) in the first two matches at the SoCal College Showcase.
F Omar Garcia, Hamilton (Calif.), Sr.
The senior forward from Los Angeles has scored 10 goals in the team’s first eight games this season, moving within five goals of the school’s all-time scoring record.
F/M Charlie Hogan, De La Salle (Calif.), Sr.
A left-footed wing player, Hogan has been one of the standout performers at the SoCal College Showcase. In De La Salle’s last outing, he had a goal and assist in the team’s win over Loyola (Calif.).
F/M [player_tooltip player_id="9651" first="Asher" last="Jones"], Tampa Prep (Fla.), So.
Jones might be the top talent in the Tampa area in his age band. Jones netted seven goals in his first six matches and has played a key role in Tampa Prep’s undefeated start and lofty national ranking.
M [player_tooltip player_id="9921" first="Hayden" last="Judge"], Plant (Fla.), Sr.
Judge won’t appear too often in the box scores, but he’s dominating play in the midfield for a Plant team that appears poised to make another run at a state title. Plant is 10-1-1. Judge has yet to score, but has five assists and does a lot of the dirty work that leads to the team’s success.
F/M Tiernan Nicewander, Kofa (Ariz.), Jr.
At 6-foot-6, Nicewander is among the nation’s tallest field players this school year. He is a highly recruited prospect out of the Yuma, Ariz., area. Nicewander was the Southwest Region offensive player of the year as a sophomore.
F Neol Ortega, Birmingham (Calif.), Sr.
Ortega scored the regulation goal and converted a shootout attempt as Birmingham won the Crescenta Valley Winter Classic. Ortega was tagged as one of the top returning players in the Los Angeles Section during the preseason.
M Nick Stranglo, Jesuit (Calif.), Sr.
Stranglo netted a pair of goals last week to help Jesuit stay undefeated. This senior has been part of the NorCal PDP program and IDed as one of the top players coming up through the San Juan youth system.
