The Marcus venue featured several top Texas programs, and here are the juniors and seniors who stood out on the final day. SENIORS F Bryan Andrade, Marcus (Texas), Sr. — Andrade was a leader from the front with strong hold up and good determination in the press. He strikes the ball extremely well and seems to be willing to hit it with both feet. Strong body frame and looks to connect with his teammates as he worked that traditional No. 9 role throughout the contest. M [player_tooltip player_id="16351" first="Jose" last="Anzures"], Grand Prairie (Texas), Sr. — Anzures is a strong leader in this team, leading with a high work rate and impact plays on and around the ball. He is strong technically with a hidden bit of cleverness up his sleeve on occasion. He has a quality to seemingly always get out of pressure via the pass or the dribble. Good soccer brain and passionate personality. F [player_tooltip player_id="15775" first="Alex" last="Bethke"], Lake Travis (Texas), Sr. — Bethke is a very strong player in the No. 9 role, he holds the ball when needed but understands when to flick and role. He reads play well and finds good pockets to be an option going forward. Strong frame and sound technical base. M Diego Feruzzi, McKinney Boyd (Texas), Sr. — Feruzzi is a talented player with a great first touch and the ability to find his way out of trouble. He is clever and scores goals, which along with his work rate and awareness make him difficult to track in midfield. F [player_tooltip player_id="16336" first="Jonathan" last="Marquez"], McKinney Boyd (Texas), Sr. — Marquez is very shifty and quick with and without the ball. He is strong to win his 1v1 battles and sees the game well. His leadership from the front is exemplified in how hard he works in the press to win the ball back. M [player_tooltip player_id="15860" first="Ben" last="Platt"], Lake Travis (Texas), Sr. — Platt is a high-impact player with dynamic movements and a creative mindset. He is a quick thinker and technically gifted, while his agility and explosiveness make him hard to handle in the middle of the park. D Jose Reyes Chicas, Irving (Texas), Sr. — Reyes Chicas is the visible leader of his team, was involved in breaking up counter attacks from the opposition with his great sense for finding the ball and winning tackles. He is a great 1v1 defender who also understands defending in a block and he can play the 4, 5, or 6. D/M [player_tooltip player_id="16150" first="Gage" last="Riley"], Marcus (Texas), Sr. — True leader for this group in all aspects of the word. Physical prescience when the ball is anywhere near his area of the field, very hard working and encourages the work rate of the players around him. He strikes the ball cleanly with the different surfaces of the foot and curled a beautiful ball in for the finish by [player_tooltip player_id="16603" first="Owen" last="Gall"] to equalize. M Andrew Sanchez, Keller (Texas), Sr. — Sanchez is creative and technically very gifted. He is clever with his back to defenders and loves to take players on. He strikes the ball well and is a good goal scorer from the No. 10 spot. F Spencer Sarkissian, McKinney Boyd (Texas), Sr. — Sarkissian is everything you want in a central forward, he is big, strong, and fast. Also, he has great feet and understanding of the game, is technically gifted, and is a great striker of the ball. The way he holds the ball up and then looks to involve and create chances for his teammates is fantastic. D Bernie Vargas-Lopez, Lake Travis (Texas), Sr. — Vargas-Lopez is strong and organized, very confident on the ball. His ability to break lines when playing out of the back continuously makes it easier for his team to break pressure and get forward. He is timely and stingy with his tackling and a clear leader of the back line and the team. F Cade Whitmire, Keller (Texas), Sr. — Whitmire is fast and powerful, he understands when to check-in and when to get in behind. Great skill on the ball and does well to create separation from himself and defenders. He is always looking to set his teammates by getting to the end line and serving great balls in the box. JUNIORS F Milton Lopez, Irving (Texas), Jr. — Lopez is very strong and understands playing with his back to goal. Composed and smooth on the ball with a nose for goal. Great striking technique and also does really well to read passing lanes and help break up opponents build out from the back. M [player_tooltip player_id="16293" first="Jason" last="Torres"], Grand Prairie (Texas), Jr. — Torres is a true center midfielder with great awareness and positional understanding. Strong technically with both feet and creates some great chances for his teammates via some great service into the box. D Tre Wright, Lake Travis (Texas), Jr. — Wright is extremely fast and strong with great stamina, this allows for him to get forward and recover constantly. His 1v1 defending and physicality make him hard to beat and he is technically sound enough to make positive contributions when he gets forward.
