Here are six girls from the DAL who are worth keeping an eye on now, and tracking as they make their mark at the NCAA level.
GiGi Betti, Alhambra, Senior, Holding Midfielder
Betti was referred to by a local coach as one of the best holding mids they had seen come through the DAL in their four years coaching in the league. She’s a four-year varsity starter, and because of that is very calm on the ball. She’s dangerous when she switches the ball quickly and is basically impossible to take the ball from in a 1v1 situation. She plays for the California Magic 03 team, and will likely be committing to a college very soon.
Meighan Ferrel, Northgate, Senior, Outside Defender/Wing
Ferrel is committed to Arizona State and is one of the best outside players in the area. She is fast and technical, and she is extremely dangerous in the final third. What’s scary about her, is that she’s just as good in locking down a winger when defending her final third. Ferrel has been a four-year starter.
Sami Kolin Sami Kolin D Campolinda | 2022 CA , Campolindo, Senior, Central Defender
Kolin is another DI prospect who has committed to CSU Northridge. She is very versatile and can play all over the pitch. She does well with pressure and can keep the ball when the heat is on. A varsity player since she was a freshman, she gives 100 percent at all times and is a true team player.
Natalie Means Natalie Means F Acalanes | 2022 CA , Acalanes, Senior, Striker
Means, a Georgetown commit, is a very strong and technical player. She can shoot from anywhere on the pitch and is a top-class finisher. She’s great with either foot, she can change speed and pace and wrong foot defenders with ease. She can play target forward and hold the ball up and play through balls to her teammates as well as being an attacking force. She plays for the LaMorinda GA team.
Laine Moraes Laine Moraes GK Clayton Valley Charter | 2022 CA , Clayton Valley, Senior, Keeper
Moreas will be attending Division II Point Loma Nazarene and continuing her soccer career in San Diego. She is a three-year varsity starter and two-time captain, who plays her club soccer at Walnut Creek SC. Moraes does everything well from stopping shots to seeing the angles and distributing the ball.
Alassandra Towle, Las Lomas, Senior, Striker
A very versatile player who can do more than just score goals. She can play all over the pitch. She has a very quick first step and makes great decisions on the ball. She is a workhorse and a leader on the pitch. She’s one of the captains for the Knights. She plays club for the Magic 03 team and will be attending St. Mary’s College in Moraga to continue her career.
