It’s playoff time in Florida and Mississippi and seasons are starting to wind down, yet we will be adding players to the All-America Watch list for weeks to come.
This week, we’re going heavy on major college-bound California prospects and a few players of note from Mississippi.
Here are the new additions to the list:
F Abby Badurak, Gulfport (Miss.), Jr., Southern Miss
Blessed with size and strength, Badurak has emerged as an offensive threat for an undefeated Gulfport squad.
D/F [player_tooltip player_id="29289" first="Elise" last="Evans"], Woodside (Calif.), Sr., Stanford
The Stanford commit returned to high school soccer last spring, benefitting from the slight change in schedule. She stayed with Woodside this winter and helped the squad to an 11-0 record.
D [player_tooltip player_id="33105" first="Laylah" last="Johnson"], Gulfport (Miss.), Jr., Southern Miss
Johnson is a versatile player who can play on the right or left and she gets involved in the attack. In fact, Johnson scored the game-winning goal as Gulfport dug out of two one-goal deficits for a 3-2 playoff win over Brandon this week.
F [player_tooltip player_id="19055" first="Amalie" last="Pianim"], Burlingame (Calif.), Sr., Stanford
The Stanford signee returned to high school soccer this school year after previously playing as a freshman. Her impact has been noticed as Burlingame is off to a 10-2-1 start this season. Burlingame, generally a contender, is coming off a 2-4-2 2020-2021 showing in a COVID-abbreviated spring season. Painim was a key player alongside [player_tooltip player_id="19037" first="Allison" last="Montoya"] on the ECNL national title-winning MVLA club team.
M [player_tooltip player_id="23343" first="Mary" last="Frances Symmes"], Gulfport, Jr., NC State
Symmes’ fitness, speed, and quickness set her apart. She plays club for Birmingham United in ECNL and already has committed to NC State.
F/M [player_tooltip player_id="18955" first="Sierra" last="Sythe"], Long Beach Millikan (Calif.), Jr., Wake Forest
Sythe is being mentioned among the Long Beach Player of the Year candidates this season after playing a key role in the team’s national ranking showing. The Wake Forest commit has been involved in a team-high 18 goals (seven goals, 11 assists).
F Tatum Wynalda, Westlake (Calif.), Sr., Pepperdine
Tatum’s father is U.S. Soccer Hall of Famer Eric Wynalda, who also starred at Westlake during his high school days. The daughter delivered big time in Westlake’s most important match to date this season -- assisting the first goal and scoring the winner as Westlake upended Oaks Christian in a clash of undefeated nationally ranked opponents. The result moved Westlake into the Top 25.
D/M [player_tooltip player_id="19398" first="Erin" last="Zeile"], Oaks Christian (Calif.), Sr., Pepperdine
During the club season, Zeile primary is a defender. In high school, though, she’s been more involved in the offense as Oaks Christian is off to an 11-1-3 start.
