Regional Rankings: Florida girls welcome new No. 1s

The third time wasn't a charm for girls soccer favorites Bartram Trail (Fla.) and North Fort Myers (Fla.). Both teams were cruising along with undefeated records, lofty national rankings and regional semifinal opponents that they had twice beaten earlier in the season. But in these two cases, the favorites were upset and it results in new regional No. 1s this week. Creekside (Fla.) upended Bartram Trail 3-2, allowing undefeated Edgewood (Fla.) to slide into the Florida-North No. 1 position. Creekside is No. 2, followed by Bartram Trail. Mariner (Fla.) surprised North Fort Myers 1-0, and that result allowed Boca Raton (Fla.) to move into the Florida-South girls No. 1 position this week. In other big moves, Alief Elsik (Texas) and Seven Lakes (Texas) swap spots following a pair of ties last week by Seven Lakes. Alief Elsik is back into first in the Texas-South boys rankings with Seven Lakes at second. The other regional No. 1 moves took place in the Southeast boys, where Jackson Academy (Miss.) moves to No. 1 ahead of Baton Rouge Catholic (La.), which it defeated this season, and Jesuit (Calif.) takes over the top spot in California-North boys following a loss by Fresno Central (Calif.).
