Winter FAB 50: Girls rankings have a familiar feel

To summarize the FAB 50 girls ranking trend, the teams are not changing -- just the order. Forty-five of last week's FAB 50 remained ranked this week, but of those 45, 41 changed positions. Monte Vista (Calif.) upended Carondelet (Calif.) in a clash of undefeated teams, which flipped those teams' rankings. Also, Oaks Christian (Calif.) avenged its loss to Westlake (Calif.) in a battle of highly ranked teams. Throw in Marcus' (Texas) loss to ranked Coppell (Texas) and it's easy to understand why the same teams are ranked, just in a slightly different order this week. One area where there was no change is at the top. Prosper (Texas) remains No. 1 in girls soccer and El Paso Eastlake (Texas) is still No. 1 for the boys. The boys rankings experienced quite a bit of turnover this week with 16 new teams. It's fair to note, most of those "new" 16 teams have been ranked at different points this season, and the churn of squads playing their way into, out of, and then back into the rankings is common -- especially in the lower 26-50 spots.
