With so much talent in one location, the scouts flock to the fields in Virginia. During the tournament in 2020, there were 500 women’s soccer college coaches in attendance at Jefferson Cup.
This year will attract similar interest. The U17 and U19 brackets include some of the best teams from ECNL, Girls Academy League, US Youth Soccer, and other avenues of the club game. This weekend could be influential in the recruiting process for many players.
Prior to the event, PrepSoccer highlighted some of the players to know from the uncommitted list heading into the weekend. Some of these players are already in discussions with schools while others are under recruited gems looking to make a statement on the big stage. Check back throughout the week for more coverage from Jefferson Cup on PrepSoccer.
Abby Fitzmaurice, Philadelphia SC Coppa Rage 05 – PSC was the finalist for the US Youth Soccer National Championship in 2021. The squad has quality all over the field. Forward Bella Brown is a recent commit to Binghampton. College coaches are eager to add some of her club teammates their 2023 recruiting classes. Fitzmaurice is the starting center back for the squad. She has been a standout at the club level for years. She also was one of the top performers for her high school team this season. Maura Day, Alexis Ocasio, and Taylor Mays are also key pieces to watch from the Coppa Rage 05 group.
Toni Comer Toni Comer M MD , Bethesda SC 05/2023 – Comer is a center midfielder for Bethesda’s ECNL team that had a standout campaign last season and earned a spot on the ECNL All-Conference second team for the North Atlantic. The midfielder is a diligent on-ball defender and does well using her strength to knock players cleanly off the ball in duels. She has good vision and can be a real threat with her passing to break lines vertically. She has a preference for her right foot, but she is very good with her left foot as well and showed last season she can pick out the upper corner with left foot finish.

, Richmond United 05/2023 – Pierce is another player who earned a spot on the ECNL All-Conference second team for her play during the 2020/2021 club season. She is the only Richmond 2023 prospect to make one of the All-Conference squads who is uncommitted. Pierce is a center back for Richmond United, and likely to be one of the most watched players at the event. The Richmond squad is one of the favorites at Jefferson Cup and will have a lot of eyes on their games.

and Kate Finkler are also ones to watch from the 2023 class.
Kaitlyn Tung Kaitlyn Tung M NY , SUSA 05/2023 – The SUSA program churns out top talent year after year. The 04 group included ECNL All-American Danielle Davis Danielle Davis M Friends Academy (NY) | 2023 #11 Nation NY , who is a key addition for the Clemson program. The 05 team has some gems as well. Tung is an attacking center midfielder with a lethal right foot. She was an ECNL all-conference second team selection last season. The creative force for her club side, Tung will be a good fit for a program that asks the attacking midfielders to press hard on the opposition. She had a great start to 2022 with the ECNL National Event in Florida. She scored a goal and was unlucky not to add a couple of more to that tally. She will be one to watch on the SUSA 05 squad.
Kaylee Stowell and Megan Stowell, WSC Nirvana FC Illusion 03 (NY-E) – The Stowell twins play up two age groups with their older sister Casey Stowell, who is an Albany recruit for the 2022 class. The two younger Stowell players are part of the 2023 recruiting class. Kaylee is a key contributor in the defense and midfield. Megan is a striker who has a nose for goal. They are both fast, competitive, and smart. They were part of the Arlington High School team that went to the state finals this year. Madison Mobray and Lily Rodriguez, both 2024 recruits, are two others to keep an eye on from this squad. Both are defensive contributors who are dominant on the field.
For the Future
Aysha Tural, Real Jersey FC 05/2024 – Tural is actually a 2006 playing up an age group with a very good Real Jersey 05 team. Tural is a midfielder who could probably play any spot in that role at the next level. She has a strong technical base and a high level soccer intelligence. She has international experience as well as she was called up to the Turkey U17 national team for a camp and tournament in Mid-April. Her club teammate Allison Tighe, a 2023 recruit, is another player to know for the future. Tighe is a member of the Peru U17 national team. Tighe will not be playing at Jefferson Cup though due to a minor injury.
Ava Goodin, Collierville Soccer 05 LLR/2024 – Goodin is a fun player to watch because she has such a strong technical base to her game. Her first touch is great so she is comfortable playing under pressure – even surrounded by multiple players. She can really play any spot on the field. She is a great long-range passer, which offers her a role at center back. She has nimble footwork, which allows her to slice up the defense from the center of the field. And she likes to take players one in 1v1 situations, which sets her up for success on the wing. The Swiss-army knife of the Collierville side had a standout campaign at the high school level this season, and should be one to watch at Jefferson Cup.
