There were teams from all over the country in the desert for the National League PRO and Showcase as they faced off against some top competition.
PrepSoccer was on hand for the games, and had exclusive daily coverage from Saturday, Sunday, and Monday‘s games. After the event, PrepSoccer awarded a Best XI for the best individual performances from the games.
There were also standout team performances. This is the team awards of the event, which include the best coached team, most ready for the next level, and most entertaining.
🥳 Most Entertaining Team to Watch: Azzurri Storm 07 Boys Premier (FL)
Every game Azzurri Storm had in Arizona brought the passion and entertainment. From late goals to great defensive plays, the team played to entertain. The squad from Florida scored 13 goals in the three games and finished with a 3-0 record. They played with an open, free-flowing style that played to the strengths of the team, including a quick attack with Ty Collins and Alexander Bulai-Tudor.
🎓 Most Ready for College: FC Evolution 05 (OH)
You could also call this Best Team, but it felt fitting to shine a light on this group as there are a number of players on the squad who will be playing at the next level. FC Evolution played at a different level than almost any other team at the event. With 19 goals scored and only two conceded, the team trashed the competition over three games. They are well-coached, organized, and setup for future success both as a team and individuals.
⚽️ Best Coached: SC Wave Juniors 06 (WI)
There were a number of teams that deserved this consideration, but the group coached by Ian Bennett showed they were capable of playing beautiful soccer. The instructions and encouragement from the sideline showed that the team was heading in the right direction and had some talent to lead them there. SC Wave finished the event with a 1-0-2 record.
⚔️ Best Game: United PDX 07B Premier Black (OR) vs. Hibernian Scholes (NJ)
In the opening game at the event for both teams, United PDX went back and forth with PDA Hibernian Scholes in a wild 3-3 draw. Both teams showed well in the contest as some opening day jitters led to a higher scoreline than most would have anticipated. United PDX showed good resilience to bounce back from the result and record two shutout victories over the next two games to win the group.
👀 Highest Potential: Downtown Las Vegas 07 (NV)
With four members on the squad already on the radar for MLS Academy teams, there is a reason Downtown Las Vegas is a team to watch at any event they attend. They have talent at pretty much every role on the field. If the group stays intact, the sky is the limit for this team.
