Windy City Ram Classic: Round 1 Recap

Thirty-two competitive high school programs all over Chicagoland take part in an annual Windy City Ram Classic every season. The event is hosted by Reavis High School in the south suburbs. A lot of the first-round matches were runaways, but that shouldn't be the case going forward in the tournament. Here's a recap of Tuesday's opening round. <strong>De La Salle 9, Argo 0</strong> The Meteors start their season hot. Sophomore Mia Ortega scored four goals and added an assist to start her season. Kennedy Carpenter, and Isabella Brogan both added a goal and two assists. The Meteors are a sleeper team to watch in the Catholic League. <strong>Morton 4, Joliet West 0</strong> A full team effort in a solid Mustang win. Senior Esmaralda Bautista, Senior Mayte Gongora, Sophomore Aaliyah Leanos, and sophomore Cariama Rosales all scored. Bautista and Rosales also picked up assists. <strong>Andrew 7, TF United 0</strong> One of the top programs in the south suburbs starts hot. Despite star midfielder Leah Crotty having a quiet game (1 assist), the team around her really produced. Senior Katherine Watzke scored twice. CosaBella Milazzo, Ava Smith, and sophomore Taylor London all had a goal and an assist. <strong>Glenbrook South 5, Addison Trail 0</strong> Bella Gemigiani scored twice and added an assist for the Titans. Three other players scored and five players got assists. Great team effort.
