Winter FAB 50: Girls No. 1 is on the line this week
In this article:
With six of the seven winter-playing states finished, all that’s left is to watch how Texas plays out.
And in the final week of the regular season, top-ranked Prosper (Texas) girls face a daunting task — league clashes with No. 6 Allen (Texas) and regionally ranked McKinney Boyd (Texas). Even if Prosper can get through this week unscathed, it still must run through the Texas 6A state tournament in order to secure a FAB 50 national title. The list of No. 1 suitors is lining up — and it has a strong Texas lean. Eight of the next nine girls teams that are in the best position to make a case for No. 1 are from the Lone Star state.
The biggest mover in girls soccer this week was Duncanville, which avenged its only loss in commanding fashion to jump to No. 25 this week.
The boys ranking features one move in the Top 5 this week as Alief Elsik (Texas) switches spots with Florida 7A champ Cypress Bay (Fla.). Elsik moves up to No. 4 after taking out a nationally ranked Strake Jesuit squad last week.
Overall, Tampa Prep (Fla.) and Grapevine (Texas) stay 1-2 in the boys rankings with Servite (Calif.) at No. 3.
