Here are some of the boys I saw that stood out in the games I was able to watch.
Ethan Steinbiss, Forward, NJ Surf South Marlton 03B
Steinbiss led the front line for Cherry Hill West in their South Jersey title last fall and was a constant threat going forward in the match I saw for NJ Surf South Marlton against TSF Academy. His speed down the left week created a number of chances and he ended up scoring off a free kick in the 2-1 win.
Ryan Fischer, Defender, NJ Surf South Marlton 03B
Fischer also scored in the match but it was his defensive played that impressed me most, blocking several shots and making some key tackles in the match against TSF Academy. He and Trent Lehmann made a solid pair in central defense for NJ Surf.
Trent Lehmann, Defender, NJ Surf South Marlton 03B
Lehmann was a strong presence both in defending but also in passing the ball from the back and when he made timely runs going forward. It was easy to see why the Seneca junior is so important to his high school team.
Ryan Carella, Goalkeeper, Lower Merion SC Legacy
A question I’ve found myself asking about reigning state champions Conestoga is who will be the next goalkeeper now that all three Smith brothers (Will, Luke and Charlie) have all come through the program. Ryan Carella made a good case in the Lower Merion SC Legacy match I saw against SUSA. SUSA had some solid attacking players and created a number of great chances that Carella was able to deny. The one goal they did score in the 1-1 draw was a highlight-reel one.
Kalid Jafer, Midfielder, Lower Merion SC Legacy
Jafer was strong on both sides of the ball and had a couple cracks at the goal in the 1-1 draw with SUSA.
Thomas Kaplan

Kaplan was plenty busy in the match against SUSA but I thought the Haverford School sophomore showed a lot of composure and used his size and physicality to clear out several waves of attacks for the club from Long Island.
Elliot Holl, Forward, Lower Merion SC Legacy
Holl had the lone goal in Lower Merion’s 1-1 draw with SUSA and had a number of other bright 1v1 attacking moments.
Brayden Birnstiel, Midfielder, Cohansey Premier 2005 Gunners
The Cumberland Christian midfielder was dancing all over the field with the ball and creating a number of chances going forward. His smoothness and movement with the ball stood out for me.
Jarrett Donato, Defender, Cohansey Premier 2005 Gunners
Donato’s strength, aggressiveness and relentless pursuit of the ball for the Schalick junior made him a lot of fun to watch and certainly contributed to the 3-0 win for Cohansey over PSA Monmouth.
