A slew of college commits will be coming out of the San Francisco Elite Academy, specifically from a loaded 2005 Girls Blue team.
This team, lead by the incomparable Tom Atencio who is the Director of Player Development and the Girls Academy Director, is loaded with front-line talent and is getting the top-notch coaching they need.
Sofia Barker, Forward
Barker is a very hard-working player, who displays a very powerful shot. She has the ability to score from open play or on set pieces. She shows a very feisty spirit, and she wants to make her opponents work for everything. She is a versatile and dynamic player who can play all over the pitch. Barker is recovering from knee injuries that will keep her out until next season.
Ari Beddoes, Keeper
Beddoes is a top-line keeper who has been called up to the Wales U17 camp in the very recent past. She is a very strong communicator, a heck of a shot-stopper, and can play the ball at her feet. She stands out because of her ability to lead and to guide her back line, and is very fearless.
Emma Chongo, Forward
Chongo is another player on this SFEA 05 team that has national team experience as she has been in the Romanian U17 camp. She is a “fox in the box” as footy fans would say as she is very good about scoring goals when she and the ball find themselves in the box in unison.
Cami Colpitts, Attacking Midfielder/Forward
Colpitts recently received big news as she was included on the most recent Canadian U17 roster. She can play pretty much anywhere on the pitch and plays in the attacking five for SFEA. The Canadian team is using her as a defensive midfielder. She is a very, very hard-nosed player. She presses very well and keeps pressure on teams possessing in the back. With the ball, her moves aren’t just for show as each one leads to something meaningful. She is a goal scorer, one of the top on the team, and she simply outworks everybody else on the pitch.
Ava Couden, Central Defender
Couden is a player that plays up. She is technically a 2006, but because she is such a fast, electric player she plays up a year. She is a great tackler who is a fantastic communicator. She is great in the air and is an incredibly strong player. She is also very dangerous as a threat to score on set pieces.
Sofia Dal Sante, Forward
Dal Sante is the leading scorer for this SFEA 2005 team and is what you want out of an outside attacking player. She has all the moves. She is quick, explosive, and creative. She also can really strike the ball with a very strong left foot and send strong crosses in from the outside.
Noa Marks, Outside Defender
Marks is a very strong 1v1 defender, using the ability to read the game, her opponent, and her overall soccer smarts to be a step ahead. She tucks in very well with the central defenders after handling her end of the business but is also very good at completing passes in transition.
Josephine Meade, Central Defender/Central Midfield
Meade is a very tooled-up player who can play along the spine, standing out as a center back but also as someone who can play in the midfield as well. She is a very smart player, which helps her stand out and she recently made the talent ID group for the Northwest Girls Academy.
Lauren O’Donnell, Defensive Midfielder
O’Donnell is a total soccer head. She knows the game well and plays with intelligence. She has a great touch in space and displays small touches to create space with ease. She is the defensive mid that makes things tick because of her ability to control the midfield.
Sofia Terry, Outside Defender
Terry is what you want out of a left back. She is strong, ultra-competitive, and never gets beat. She also has an excellent slide tackle. What really stands out about her is that she has the ability to really get up and down the left side. She has a very strong left foot and has a great shot.
Sydni Yoshida, Attacking Midfielder
Yoshida is a very special player who in the past has been selected for the US Olympic Development Program. She plays for the Hawaiian Soccer Academy most of the time but plays for SFEA when she is stateside. She plays for SFEA for showcases and playoffs. She is strong with both feet, she can turn on a time. A true gem of a player, because she is strong despite her small stature.
