M Megan Norkett Megan Norkett M Naperville Central (IL) | 2023 #149 Nation IL , Naperville Central, Jr.
Norkett had an excellent game Monday night in a scoreless draw to Naperville North. She should lots of toughness in the midfield and created several scoring chances for her and her teammates. On Thursday against New Trier, she opened the scoring as she bursted past the defense for a powerful left-footed strike. A few minutes later, the Northwestern commit scored again from 20 yards out. Norkett is in the running for Illinois Player of the Year.
F Tyra King Tyra King F IL , Metea Valley, Jr.
I was really impressed with the work Tyra King Tyra King F IL did last week. She started off the week on a high note with a goal in a 3-2 Senior Day win over Batavia. On Monday, King scored both Mustang goals in an exciting 2-1 conference win over Neuqua Valley. Her best performance was saved for Sunday at the BodyArmor Series Championship. King scored a hat-trick in a 4-2 win over Maine South.
F Piper Lucier Piper Lucier null | F Barrington | 2025 State #167 Nation IL , Barrington, Fr.
The freshman standout has played terrific all season. Lucier has come through up top when her team has needed her. Against unbeaten Naperville Central, Lucier found Brooke Brown Brooke Brown M Barrington (IL) | 2023 IL for the game’s lone goal in a 1-0 upset road victory. Despite the OT championship loss to Naperville North, she scored a crucial second half goal to level the Huskies.
F Payton Richter, Waterloo, Sr.
Richter has gone under the radar down in the St. Louis area. The 5-8 senior forward leads her team with 24 goals and 11 assists this season. She’s been a standout for the Bulldogs since her freshman year. Richter’s efforts last Thursday allowed Waterloo to take down defending 2A champs Triad, who had gone on a 39-game winning streak dating back to 2021. Waterloo won 2-0 as Richter scored a goal in each half. Earlier in the week, she scored a hat trick to defeat Jersey. That performance was preceded by a two-goal, three-assist win over FMGC.
GK Abby Haskell, Naperville North, Sr.
Haskell was nothing less than extraordinary last week. She went back to her old school Monday night and stole the show against their arch-rival Naperville Central. She made nearly a dozen saves to keep the game scoreless for 100 minutes. She carried that confidence over to the Naperville Invite making more saves to hold a 2-0 clean sheet over OPRF. Haskell and the Huskies then got to rematch Lyons, whom they lost to in a PK shootout a couple weeks prior, Friday night. Haskell picked up her third clean sheet of the week with a 1-0 semifinal win. The Huskies took down Barrington in the championship game 2-1 to win the Naperville Invitational.
F Cayla Koerner Cayla Koerner F Mahomet-Seymour | 2022 IL , Mahomet-Seymour, Sr.
Koerner’s numbers are extraordinary. The Southeast Missouri commit leads the state with 45 goals this season as Mahomet-Seymour is 14-0. Koerner has scored in every game and has assisted in all but three. Recently, she scored four goals against Lincoln and a hat-trick over Charleston. Koerner’s 23 assists show that she’s also a playmaker too.
F Autumn Diduch, Freeport, So.
The sophomore standout has taken over the Rockford-area yet again this season. The freshman all-stater has averaged 2.6 goals per game this season. She headlined the NIC-10 with six goals Thursday night to beat Rockford Jefferson 7-0. Prior to that, she scored four goals and two assists in the first half to beat Rockford Lutheran 8-0. Last Saturday, she score two goals o take down Harlem 2-0. The Pretzels will be competitive in 2A this postseason.
F Emily Fox, Deerfield, So.
Fox has contributed in all sorts of ways this past week as she scored or assisted in all five games. She displayed some great distribution to begin the week as she assisted twice in a 3-0 conference win against Highland Park. The warriors had to play four games in four days to close out the week and Fox was consistently dominant throughout. She scored a goal against St. Ignatius and Maine East Wednesday and Thursday en route to two decisive 4-0 wins. She followed that up with a late-game assist to take down Whitney Young on Friday. A goal against Grayslake Central closed out an impressive stretch.
