With the initial success of MLS team Atlanta United, the youth game has exploded and multiple clubs have found success on a national level.
The 2024 class, the rising juniors-to-be, features some of the most exciting talent in the country. Atlanta United youngster Pavel Romero Pavel Romero M State #29 Nation GA is the No. 1 player in the class. Romero, 16-year-old midfielder, appeared for the Atlanta United II in March.
While he has already played against professionals, Romero still has his amateur status, which is why he is included in the PrepSoccer rankings. As a remainder, the PrepSoccer rankings only consist of amateur players. Hence why a player like Jonatan Villal, pictured, is not included in the rankings. Villal is already signed to a professional contract with the club’s second team.
The PrepSoccer state rankings use the player’s club for the state designation – i.e. a player who lives in South Carolina, but plays for a Georgia club is included in the Georgia rankings.

Timi Browne Timi Browne 6'1" | F Holy Spirit | 2024 State #76 Nation GA , Southern Soccer Academy, has been one of the rising prospects in this class over the last 12 months. The center forward plays for the Southern Soccer Academy U17 team in MLS Next. The 6-foot-1 attacker can finish with either foot. He has the physical tools to hold off defenders. Once he is facing goal, he is difficult to stop. Browne is going to have a lot of scouts interested in his commitment for the next level.
Shafer Gottlieb Shafer Gottlieb 6'0" | D State GA , Tormenta FC, is one of the top defenders from the class in Georgia. Gottlieb is a center back who plays for the Tormenta FC U16 team in the MLS Next. His play at that level earned him a spot on the club’s U19 team team for the USL Academy Cup in March/April. The club continues to give him a larger platform as he was added to the Tormenta FC USL Academy team for the season. He is a smart, competitive defender who has impressed scouts at every level this season. He is a name to know from the class of 2024 in Georgia.
Caleb Robertson Caleb Robertson M Dacula | 2024 State GA , Concorde Fire Platinum Boys ECNL, is a player that college coaches are going to love from this class. He is already loved by ECNL Scouts as he was named the Southeast Player of the Year for the 2020/2021 season. He is a tall defensive center midfielder. He is comfortable with both feet in passing. He is more likely to shoot with his right foot, but he is still very good with his left foot and can rip off an effort with either. He is not shy in the tackle and will leave his mark on the game. Robertson is a player to know for the Boys ECNL postseason in June.
Javier Espin Javier Espin F Effingham County | 2024 State GA is a name to know from the high school scene in Georgia. Espin had a remarkable campaign with Effingham County High School as the target forward for the program. His play at that level earned the attention of scouts during the spring. He will be a name to know for the future if he continues to produce at such a high rate in the high school game.
Nash Skoglund Nash Skoglund 6'0" | GK State #116 Nation GA is the top goalkeeper in the class. The six-foot shotstopper plays for Atlanta United in MLS Next. He is an athletic prospect who likes to pull over the acrobatic save when called upon. He is good off his line and would do really well with a program that plays a high defensive line as he is good in timing his tackle on breakaway attempts plus he has the speed to beat the forward to the ball over the top. Skoglund has a few of the intangibles for the position that make him the top goalkeeper prospect from Georgia in the 2024 class.
