Fenwick 0, De La Salle 0 (Fenwick wins in PKs): A tremendous defensive display for both programs. Goalkeeper Audrey Hinrichs came through on the final kick of the shootout to send them downstate. Fenwick controlled most of this game, but De La Salle’s defense was terrific. Despite the loss, the Meteors have a very bright future.
Triad 2, Glenwood 0: Despite only two goals, Triad seemingly controlled this entire game. Macy Mell assisted Breanna Zurek off a cross just over ten minutes in. Avery Bohnenstiehl scored fifteen minutes later to double the lead off a Kinlee Lippert Corner Kick. Two of their key players, Gabby Wood and Laney Harshany, have been injured. But it seems like that hasn’t slowed them down.
Benet 1, Dunlap 0: Another historic season continues for the redwings. The game stayed scoreless for the first 65 minutes of play. The defense was especially impressive. But Benet finally broke through late. Senior leader Mariana Pinto played freshman Keira Petrucelli open in the box for an easy goal. GK Shannon Clark Shannon Clark GK Benet Academy (IL) | 2023 IL also made some great saves throughout the game to secure the shutout.
Deerfield 2, Rockford Boylan 2 (Deerfield wins in PKs): This was definitely the most exciting matchup in 2A. Boylan opened up the scoring in the first half after Maggie Schmidt played a nice through ball to Kyra Cruikshank. Deerfield responded late in that half with a left-footed shot into the bottom right corner by Emily Fox. Boylan would regain the lead in the second half with a beautiful goal from 25 yards out by Izze Fritz. But again, Deerfield took advantage of their chances as Emily Fox buried a PK to send it to OT. After two scoreless periods, Deerfield dominated the shootout to go downstate.
