Muskego has been hot all season. The addition of sophomore sensation Anna Sikorski Anna Sikorski M Muskego (WI) | 2024 #94 Nation WI has surely paid off. If Sikorski and Muskego win the state championship, she would have won two state championships with different schools in her first two years. I’m not sure if that has ever happened. Senior Haley Johnson, heading to Pacific, has also made a tremendous impact on this team. She did not play high school soccer until this season. Meanwhile, De Pere, heading to state for the first time since 2013, will look to spoil the party. Six players have double-digit scoring numbers this season. Sophomore Amelia Schuh leads the way. She has 30 goals and 6 assists on the year. Junior Midfielder Greta Czachor is a great player in the center of the field and leads the team in assists with 14. De Pere will definitely have a chance, but Muskego should take care of business. THE PICK: Muskego 2, De Pere 0
No. 2 Waunakee vs. No. 3 Divine Savior-Holy Angels: Thursday 7 p.m.
Despite being ranked lower by the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association, Waunakee is the No. 2 seed. The team recently picked up three tight wins to get here, defeating Mukwonago, Madison West, and Kettle Moraine. Waunakee’s defense has been exceptional all year. The keeper duo of Maddie Alsteen and Emily Whyte have 20 shutouts and that includes a 0-0 draw with top seed Muskego back in April. Seniors Riley Miller and Ava Thomas are the leaders of this team. For DSHA, it hasn’t seemed to have skipped a beat after losing Sikorski to Muskego in the fall. DSHA is 19-2-2. Piper Dupies, Anna Faust, Jane Martin Jane Martin F Divine Savior Holy Angels | 2023 WI , and Sofia Miranda have been the top goal scorers. Keeper Kate Nonn has a 0.85 GAA this postseason. This should be the most exciting game of the day. It’s definitely the most difficult one to pick too. It honestly might be a toss-up. THE PICK: Waunakee 1, DSHA 0.
Championship Prediction
MUSKEGO 1, WAUNAKEE 0: Despite tying earlier in the year, I expect Muskego to have a bigger chip on their shoulder. This should be a really close game.
