The Girls Academy League crowned National Champions in the U14, U15, U16, and U17 age groups over the weekend. The U13 and U19 champions were crowned earlier in the month during the playoffs in Southern California. Colorado Rush won the GA National Championship in the U13 age group. Teagan Hodne was named the MVP at that age group with Kyara O'Connor receiving the Golden Boot - both play for Colorado Rush. Caelyn Moore, from Houston Dash, was awarded the Golden Glove for top goalkeeper in the U13 age group. FC Bay Area Surf (03/04) staked its claim as one of the great club teams in history with another national championship at the U19 age group in the Girls Academy. Elise Evans was awarded the MVP award with goalkeeper Isabella Banuelos named the Golden Glove winner for that age group - both play for FC Bay Area Surf. Devin Lynch, Sockers FC, was the Golden Boot winner in that age group.

Check out the PrepSoccer Best XI from the Girls Academy playoffs. Below is a recap of the championship games from each of the age groups that wrapped up the club season over the weekend.

U14/2008
Nationals completed their dominant run in the playoffs with a 4-2 win over Tophat Gold in the championship game over the weekend. Nationals (Michigan) finished the quarterfinals, semifinals, and final with a goal differential of plus 14. The team scored 17 goals in three games and only let in three. The squad consists of a number of players with youth national team potential and will be one to plant the flag for the league for years to come, as more and more scouts flock to watch this talented group. Micayla Johnson was the Golden Boot winner for this age group. Lily Jeakle was named the MVP of the Playoffs. Tophat Gold earned their spot in the championship with wins over Lou Fusz and TSJ FC Virginia in the semifinal and quarterfinal round respectively.

🏆 CHAMPS 🏆@NationalsGA officially takes the U14 crown! 👑#GAFinals22 pic.x.com/t9hnPnzcvu
— Girls Academy (@GAcademyLeague) July 9, 2022

U15/2007
TSJ FC Virginia won the Girls Academy National Championship in the U15 age group behind a three-game shutout streak in the knockout rounds of the postseason. TSJ FC Virginia beat NEFC 1-0 in the final on Saturday. The team also beat Lou Fusz in the semifinal and Tophat Gold in the quarterfinal by the same scoreline. While the defense was the star in the knock-out rounds, it was the offense that had to do the heavy lifting during the group play as TSJ FC Virginia needed six goals against Lamorinda during the final day of group play in order to clinch the victory and top spot in the group. [player_tooltip player_id="27574" first="Mya" last="Townes"], the standout from that wild 6-4 win over Lamorinda, scored the game-winner in the championship off an assist from [player_tooltip player_id="27571" first="Lilli" last="Lubic"], who scored the game-winner in the semifinal. [player_tooltip player_id="27660" first="Bree" last="Bridges"] was named the MVP, [player_tooltip player_id="27574" first="Mya" last="Townes"] won the Golden Boot, and [player_tooltip player_id="27572" first="Lillian" last="Mitchell"] won the Golden Gloves for this age group. All three play for TSJ FC Virginia.

One time for the @GAcademyLeague National Championship!! The Southern California squad was one of the most impressive teams throughout the playoffs - in any age group - in terms of playing a possession-dominant style that let the players showcase their talents. Albion SC's competitive fire helped propel them through the finals with tough battles against Lonestar SC in the semifinal and then against South Shore Select in the title game. U.S. Youth National Team defender Lizzie Boamah anchored a defense that only conceded one goal from the knockout rounds. [player_tooltip player_id="47602" first="Kaela" last="Martinez"] won the Golden Boot for this age group. [player_tooltip player_id="33314" first="Ashlyn" last="Puerta"] was named the MVP for the Playoffs.

Congratulations to our U16 Champions, @AlbionSc! 🙌#GAFinals22 pic.x.com/7RAoPS1Dlf
— Girls Academy (@GAcademyLeague) July 10, 2022

U17/2005
Oakwood SC provided the biggest surprise from the championship round as they took out Florida United in the championship game to claim the Girls Academy National Championship in the U17 age group for the 2021/2022 club season. Oakwood's strong team spirit was on full display throughout the playoff run, and the team needed a complete effort to take down Florida United, which has a roster full of next level talent and a few U.S. Youth National Team members. [player_tooltip player_id="26335" first="Kara" last="Harris"] (Lonestar), [player_tooltip player_id="20740" first="Tyler" last="Coker"] (Lonestar), and [player_tooltip player_id="28469" first="Anna" last="Sikorski"] (SC Wave) won the Golden Boot for this age group. [player_tooltip player_id="20751" first="Aubrey" last="Kulpa"] was named the MVP for the Playoffs.
