TSJ FC Virginia won the Girls Academy National Championship in the U15 age group behind a three-game shutout streak in the knockout rounds of the postseason. TSJ FC Virginia beat NEFC 1-0 in the final on Saturday. The team also beat Lou Fusz in the semifinal and Tophat Gold in the quarterfinal by the same scoreline. While the defense was the star in the knock-out rounds, it was the offense that had to do the heavy lifting during the group play as TSJ FC Virginia needed six goals against Lamorinda during the final day of group play in order to clinch the victory and top spot in the group. [player_tooltip player_id="27574" first="Mya" last="Townes"], the standout from that wild 6-4 win over Lamorinda, scored the game-winner in the championship off an assist from [player_tooltip player_id="27571" first="Lilli" last="Lubic"], who scored the game-winner in the semifinal. [player_tooltip player_id="27660" first="Bree" last="Bridges"] was named the MVP, [player_tooltip player_id="27574" first="Mya" last="Townes"] won the Golden Boot, and [player_tooltip player_id="27572" first="Lillian" last="Mitchell"] won the Golden Gloves for this age group. Albion SC San Diego won the Girls Academy National Championship in the U16 age group. The Southern California squad was one of the most impressive teams throughout the playoffs - in any age group - in terms of playing a possession-dominant style that let the players showcase their talents. Albion SC's competitive fire helped propel them through the finals with tough battles against Lonestar SC in the semifinal and then against South Shore Select in the title game. U.S. Youth National Team defender Lizzie Boamah anchored a defense that only conceded one goal from the knockout rounds. [player_tooltip player_id="47602" first="Kaela" last="Martinez"] won the Golden Boot for this age group. [player_tooltip player_id="33314" first="Ashlyn" last="Puerta"] was named the MVP for the Playoffs.
