Many of the girls here regardless of the division have had explosive seasons and fantastic players who are set to make some ripples in the upcoming season.
(MF,D) Belle Seward, Harris County HS 5A
Belle is an absolute standout player and should be on all schools’ and coaches’ radars. Her stats over her past three years of varsity speak for themselves with the previous season of 20 goals and 12 assists being her best. The most interesting part of this is her position as she often plays through the midfield and some defense as well. Typically playing as a box-box midfielder she has great timing and box running to get on the end of crosses but also creates her chances with shots from outside the box and excellent dribbling ability to open space up for herself and her teammates. Her physicality and intensity make her excellent off the ball and work hard to win the ball back as quickly as possible. Expect her to have a strong season to finish up her final high school season.
(D, MF) Mackenzley Cheely, Whitewater HS 5A
A hybrid defender/midfielder who can do a little bit of everything for her team. When she’s holding down the defense her impeccable timing and reading of the game allows her to step and intercept the ball and go straight into attacks. Her athleticism allows her to bomb the field and make sure she recovers back when they lose the ball. In the midfield, she’s able to have a little more freedom and covers large amounts of ground, and is almost always in the right position which is reflected by her 8 goals and 11 assists with a handful of free kicks and corners which shows her versatility.
(F) Teegan Mullins, Dutchtown HS 5A
A more traditional forward, Teegan’s impressive 13 goals and 4 assists last season helped her school to a playoff run, and started to make a name for herself. A modern-day player she incorporates excellent link-up play with her midfield runs into the box and finishing to create chances all game. Having a deft touch even at chaotic moments during games and in tight spaces allows her to finish or get shots off from almost nothing. Off the ball, she presses the opposition defense and works hard to help her team when they don’t have the ball. Teegan will be looking to improve her goalscoring record and extend her playoff run in her final season.
(AMF) Anabel Orozco Anabel Orozco F Fayette County (GA) | 2023 State GA , Fayette HS 4A
Anabel is a player every coach would love to have, a team captain who leads by example on the field and her stats show it as well. A total of 108 points with 47 goals and 14 assists is an impressive feat at any rate especially not even playing as an out-and-out striker. Primarily operating as an attacking midfielder, Anabel can do it all. She has fantastic feet and can beat defenders on the dribble, shoot from distance, finish with both feet and get on the end of crosses. Her team is set up to get the best out of her and she takes full advantage whether it’s her scoring or getting teammates involved. Gone under the radar due to being in a smaller division her numbers shouldn’t be taken lightly and be on everyone’s radar next season.
(F) Leslie Alanis, Southeast Whitfield County HS 4A
Finishing up with another forward Leslie’s impressive 43 points with 19 goals and 6 assists shows how accomplished she is as a forward and overall player. Blessed with great speed and acceleration she is constantly making runs in behind the defense to finish off through balls or will just outright beat a defender on the dribble and create her chance. Her versatility and unpredictability in front of goal with or without the ball mean she scores all types of goals and creates headaches for opposition teams. She will be working hard to finish strong and make a deep run next season.
