Kentucky Players Of The Week

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>With three weeks of season already underway in Kentucky for boys soccer, there has been a ton of talent and potential all throughout the state. Here is a look at six players who had a strong performance this past week: </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Eliseo Ochoa-Perez, Butler </strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The senior keeper continues to prove that he is one of the better keepers in the 6th Region. Ochoa had a good showing this week. A shutout against Eastern along with three saves. Ochoa also recorded five saves for Butler against St. Xavier this past week in a 1-0 loss. Ochoa is a very athletic goalkeeper with a ton of quickness. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Andy Alfaro, Greenwood </strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The junior forward had a solid two games last week. Alfaro scored two goals vs Pulaski County in a 3-1 win for Greenwood. The forward followed it up with three goals in a 3-1 win over Corbin to end the week. The junior currently has six goals in 6 games. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Cole Varela, Elizabethtown </strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Senior forward continues to lead Etown in scoring this past week. Varela had two goals in a 2-0 district win over North Hardin. To end the week, Varela scored a hat trick against Bardstown. The forward is currently sitting at 16 goals in six games. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='11481' first='James' last='Maxwell'], Ballard </strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The senior midfielder has been impressive this season for Ballard. Maxwell picked up four goals this past week: two against Christian Academy of Louisville and two against the defending state champions Dunbar in a 4-1 win for Ballard. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Josh Kuntz, McCracken County </strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Kuntz had a big week. The senior midfielder netted in five goals in two games this past week. Kuntz leads the team in scoring with eight goals. The senior also leads in assists with two. McCracken County looks to be a favorite in the 1st region once again. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Elijah Siewert, Henderson County </strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The defender comes in clutch for Henderson County this past week. Siewert nailed in four goals in two games lastweek.
