There are a number of other players in this class who look to be on the professional pathway including a player who was the youngest one to participate in the MLS Next All-Star game this summer.
FC Dallas has been the most active in this class with a number of new additions to that club during the offseason plus a few departures.
PrepSoccer gives a scouting analysis of a handful of the players who appear in the rankings below.
There is a reason to believe that Luke Munson Luke Munson D Lone Star | 2025 State #32 Nation TX might be the best center back in the country in this class. He was terrific for Solar all of last season, and FC Dallas made him a high priority signing for the U17 team during the offseason. Munson should be on the fast track to the second team at the club – and maybe more by this time next year. He is the prototype of the modern center back – good on the ball, rangy, smart in his positioning. He will be tested more against older competition this season, and he has shown the tools to pass those tests easily.
Highlights
It’s rare to see a defensive midfielder/center midfielder win the ECNL National Player of the Year, but Evrit Fisher Evrit Fisher M State #57 Nation TX did just that this past season. Fisher can play in a more advanced role, but he looks like a long-term prospect at defensive midfielder. He is an intelligent player who reads the game really well. He is clean in possession – he is the washing machine of his side as he will clean up any bad pass and then distribute it cleanly. Fisher is a player to watch with a very high ceiling. Club teammate Jonathan Luna, a 2026, is one to watch as well.
Tobias Crear Tobias Crear F State TX is a top prospect from the forward ranks in the state. He has been a regular in the U.S. Soccer Youth National Team Talent Identification Center for the region, which shows how he is viewed by the top scouts and some of the college coaches in the state. Crear offers a breakaway finisher for his side.
Betancourt is a relatively new addition to Houston Dynamo’s academy. He was a standout for the Rise MLS Next teams for the past couple of seasons, and earned a spot in the Best XI team in December. He is a center back who is highly regarded for his skill and decision-making on the ball. He will be another one to watch as he could shoot up the rankings as he gets the opportunities with the top youth teams at that MLS academy.
Jonathan Martinez Jonathan Martinez GK State TX is the top ranked goalkeeper from this class. He was the starter for the FC Dallas 07 team last season. Martinez had a couple of standout performances in MLS Next last season as he answered the call with a few highlight reel saves in close games. Martinez holds this spot, but there are a few goalkeepers on the radar for the future in this class.
