The Future of Illinois High School Soccer is Naperville Central’s Chase Adams
Tons of firepower returns for Naperville Central this season. The Redhawks will surely be a top contender in the DuPage Valley and West Suburbs. They started their season off with a bang against fellow perennial powerhouse Morton. Despite all the key returners, it was a freshman who shined. Forward Chase Adams was nothing but impressive to begin his high school career. After falling behind 1-0 early. Central confidently gave the ball to the young freshman for a penalty kick, which he buried. Adams would score two more goals in the second half as Naperville Central won 3-1. Later in the week, he became more active with his distribution and added another goal against Oswego. It’s super rare to see freshman shine at large powerhouses. But Naperville Central has a name to watch for years to come.
Boylan’s Unbeaten Streak Continues, Bests Huntley 1-0.
Last season, Huntley took down Rockford Boylan to open up the season. Since that point, Boylan has yet to lose, or draw, a game. They’ve won 27 straight games leading up to last Monday night and took home the 2A state championship in November. They also have a new coach. Today, it was a defensive-heavy game. Victor Ibarra, one of the team’s top returners, finally struck gold in the second half for the lone goal of the game.
Hinsdale Central upsets Milwaukee Marquette
Few programs in the country have as consistent success as Marquette in Wisconsin. But the defending D1 state champions were bested by Hinsdale Central. Senior F Luca Davies scored and assisted for Hinsdale Central in this match. He’s been the Red Devils’ most productive player so far and was voted West Suburban Athlete of the week by a local newspaper. Dayton DiTomasso also got a goal and assist against Marquette.
Efrain Rosales is an exciting young Keeper
Few freshman goalkeepers found as much success as East Aurora’s Efrain Rosales last season. This fall, he’s off to a fantastic start. In three games, Rosales has already made 45 saves with a 1.33 goals against average. He’s a terrific athlete who plays well off his line and can create plays with his feet. East Aurora is 1-1-1 to start the year.
Grayslake Central Has 2A Title Hopes
After a third-place finish in 2A last year, the Rams are back for more. Alan Alonso Alan Alonso IL is their leader, and can make plays for them all over the field. He just won a USYS national title with 17u Libertyville FC. But in their opening game against Deerfield, it was fellow captain Daniel Marynevych who took charge. Scoring four goals in a 4-1 victory over Deerfield. Over the weekend, GLC went into New Trier and left with a 1-1 tie. The Trevians are expected to be one of the top programs in the country this year.
