Emmett Lawton Emmett Lawton F Notre Dame Academy | 2023 WI was one of the most dynamic goal scorers in the state last year. He led Notre Dame all the way to the state championship game, and he’s back for more. The 6-foot-1 forward is an excellent scorer on both the soccer pitch and the basketball court, as he was very impressive on the Prep Hoops Circuit this spring and summer. Now, he’s put his cleats back on, and hasn’t skipped a beat. Lawton opened the season with a hat trick in a 6-1 victory over Xavier. He then added two goals apiece at Ripon and Seymour to end the Week. So far, Lawton has scored seven goals as Notre Dame is off to a blazing 3-0 start.
Beloit Memorial is a Large School Sleeper
Head Coach Brian Denu has led the Purple Knights for more than a decade. This team might be one of the best he’s ever had. Two of his sons headline the roster. Six-foot-5 midfielder Baylor Denu Baylor Denu M Beloit Memorial | 2023 WI led the Purple Knights in scoring last season and is off to a hot start again. He scored both goals in their 2-0 win against Hononegah (Ill.) to open the season. Denu then added a hat trick over Watertown. By the end of the week, he became a playmaker, setting up his teammates for scoring chances and assists in a big 7-0 win over Amherst. His younger brother, Beckham, anchors the defense in net. He’s yet to concede a goal this season leading up to Tuesday’s action.
Sussex Hamilton might be the Real Deal
The Chargers have bolted off to a tremendous start this year. In three games, they’ve yet to concede a goal and have outscored opponents 18-0. The 8-0 throttle over D3 contender New Berlin Eisenhower capitalized the week. Before that, they knocked off Arrowhead 4-0 and Wauwatosa East 6-0. They have a big test Tuesday night against Marquette, the defending D1 state champs.
Kreitmeir Shines in the Midfield for Waukesha West
Gavin Kreitmeir Gavin Kreitmeir F Waukesha | 2023 WI has Waukesha West off to an outstanding start. The 5-11 midfielder is an game changer on both ends. On defense, he makes terrific tackles and prevents scoring chances and counted attacking opportunities. On offense, he shows great control with the ball and can score with both feet. Kreitmeir displayed some impressive playmaking abilities in an opening day win against New Berlin Eisenhower. Dishing two assists and scoring in a 4-3 victory. Two days later, he scored a hat trick and an assist to beat West Bend East. Over the weekend, he got a goal to defeat Badger 2-0.
Madison West Starts Season Hot
The Regents surely will contend for the Big 8 Crown this season alongside a few others. They made a statement in their opening two matches of the season to prove it. West midfielder Ben Minikel-Lacocque scored two goals to open up the season against a De Pere team who went downstate last season. Later in the week West defeated Appleton East 8-0. BML scored and assisted in that game too.out include Lian Cahill and Finn Kennedy also had multiple scores and assists this week for the Regents. A big test Tuesday night against Whitefish Bay awaits.
