Indiana teams won all three varsity brackets at this annual girls high school showcase that brings together state-ranked teams from Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio. Take away an 0-2 showing by Penn (Ind.), the five other Indiana teams went a combined 8-0-2 against their Kentucky and Ohio counterparts. The 2022 results were in stark contrast to 2021, where the Kentucky programs emerged as the best in the field.
Saturday
Evansville Memorial (Ind.) 2, Sacred Heart (Ky.) 1: Kennedy Neighbors Kennedy Neighbors M Evansville Memorial (IN) | 2023 State IN had a goal and assist as Evansville Memorial defeated Sacred Heart in a game where the final score was a bit misleading. Memorial led 2-0 in the closing seconds before Aubrey Nolan Aubrey Nolan F KY ‘s rushed free kick eluded the Memorial keeper just as the clock expired. That was the lone bright spot this weekend for a Sacred Heart team that came into the event undefeated and ranked among the nation’s top 25 teams. Memorial laid claim to the Group A title, ahead of Carmel (Ind.) with Rocky River (Ohio) and Sacred Heart in fourth.
Brebeuf Jesuit (Ind.) 1, Notre Dame Academy (Ky.) 0: Rowan Pearl Rowan Pearl D IN ‘s free kick from 35 yards out slipped through the defense and past the keeper to give Brebeuf a 1-0 victory in a tightly contested match between state title contenders. The result gave Brebeuf the Group B title, finishing ahead of Notre Dame Academy with Brunswick (Ohio) in third and Penn (Ind.) in fourth. Sophia Payne recorded the shutout in goal and delivered a few key saves along the way. Pearl, who was selected as Group MVP, and Josie Skinner anchored a defense that did not allow a goal during the event, and right back Olivia Mulhern provided key minutes and cleared one ball off the line.
Zionsville (Ind.) 4, Assumption (Ky.) 1: Reese Nehlsen had a goal and one assist as Zionsville rolled to a victory over Assumption in a clash of undefeated teams. The result gave Zionsville the Group C title over Assumption with Cathedral (Ind.) in second, Assumption in third and DuPont Manual (Ky.) in fourth. Katie Chadwick Katie Chadwick M IN , Meg Jacklin and Emma Hammelman contributed goals. Zionsville was the most offensively explosive team at the event, netting eight goals, with five different players finding the net.
Carmel (Ind.) 2, Rocky River (Ohio) 2: Sophia Sindelar and Ava Patti netted second-half goals as Rocky River rallied from a 2-0 halftime deficit to tie heavily favored Carmel. The result was quite a surprise considering Rocky River, who dressed only 13 players for the match, had gone 150 minutes at the event without a goal – let alone two – before the second-half outburst. Carmel went up 2-0 on goals by Greta Heyl and Olivia Cebalo Olivia Cebalo F Carmel | 2025 IN in the first half.
Cathedral (Ind.) 3, DuPont Manual (Ind.) 1: Anna Spellacy Anna Spellacy D IN , Eliza Langfeldt and Abby Beasley scored the goals as Cathedral defeated DuPont Manual to close out a 1-0-1 showing at the event. Giana Zambroni scored for Manual.
Brunswick (Ohio) 2, Penn (Ind.) 1: Kiley Deighton netted the game-winning goal with 27:31 left as Brunswick edged Penn. Brunswick took the lead on a goal by Brooke Allen. Penn responded with a goal by Tara Dauby before Deighton’s winner.
Cathedral (Ind.) 2, Assumption (Ky.) 2: Both keepers made clutch saves in the closing minutes as Cathedral and Assumption settled on a draw in the first varsity match of the day. Abby Beasley and Emma Drewry scored for Cathedral. Olivia Haas and A.G. Gibson. scored for Assumption. Cathedral led until Gibson’s goal with 30 minutes left in the match. Late in the game, Cathedral senior and Missouri-bound Kate Phillips Kate Phillips GK Indianapolis Cathedral (IN) | 2023 State IN made a save on a shot headed for the upper right corner of the goal. Shortly after, Assumption’s Hannah Hayden matched the feat by parrying away a high shot.

Carmel (Ind.) 2, Sacred Heart Academy (Ky.) 0: Sophomore speedster Olivia Cebalo Olivia Cebalo F Carmel | 2025 IN scored a goal in each half as Carmel pinned the first loss on Sacred Heart Academy this season in a clash of FAB 50 teams.
Evansville Memorial (Ind.) 2, Rocky River (Ohio) 0: Ella Hamner Ella Hamner M State IN broke a scoreless tie late in the first half by converting a penalty kick and Taylor Devitt added a clincher in the second half for Memorial. Devitt’s goal was double-assisted by Avarie Zeller and Kennedy Neighbors Kennedy Neighbors M Evansville Memorial (IN) | 2023 State IN .
Brebeuf Jesuit (Ind.) 3, Brunswick (Ohio) 0: Josie Studley Josie Studley null | F Brebeuf Jesuit (IN) | 2024 State IN scored a goal and had an assist as Brebeuf Jesuit rolled to a 3-0 win over Brunswick. Leah Berg and Aly Arena also scored goals. Sophia Payne was in goal for the shutout.
Notre Dame Academy (Ky.) 4, Penn (Ind.) 0: Hannah Knapke, Ellie Greenwell Ellie Greenwell M Notre Dame Academy | 2023 OH , Ava Summe and Caroline Kramer scored the goals as Notre Dame Academy, Kentucky’s defending state champions, rolled to a victory over Penn. NDA scored twice in each half.
Zionsville (Ind.) 4, DuPont Manual (Ky.) 2: Katie Chadwick Katie Chadwick M IN scored twice as Zionsville rallied from a 2-1 deficit for a victory over the visitors from Kentucky. Amelia Jones Amelia Jones F KY and Emerson Jones Emerson Jones D KY scored goals to give Manual a 2-1 lead in the first half before Zionsville roared back. Morgan Mantel and Emma Hammelman also scored goals for Zionsville, which remained undefeated with the win.
