SubscribeWhen looking at the ECNL All-American teams from the 2021/2022 season, there was one state that is traditionally a powerhouse that was noticeably absent of a representative from any of the teams. Florida lacked one player on an All-American team. Part of the reason is that there are only so many spots on these teams, and it’s hard to get a player from everywhere on them; but there is another reason as well. More so than any other state (arguably Michigan too) the top talent in Florida is divided between the two national leagues. Some of the best players in the state play in the Girls Academy League. Florida United and IMG Academy both have players on the U.S. Youth National Teams from the 2025 class, and they hold the top spots in the PrepSoccer Player Rankings for Florida in the Class of 2025.
That does not mean the ECNL teams are void of talent. They have a number of players who will be on scouts radars this season, as the attention turns to the 2025 class in the spring. There were a few players in this class who took part in the ECNL National Training Camp in Portland this summer including Alessia Saia Alessia Saia null | M State #109 Nation FL who was previously listed as a 2024 recruit, but was moved into this class based on the roster from that ECNL event listing her as a 2025 graduate.
As a reminder, the PrepSoccer player rankings use the player’s club location as the state for rankings purpose (i.e. a player from Texas playing for IMG Academy would be included in the Florida rankings).
Trinity Armstrong Trinity Armstrong D State #21 Nation FL made some news during the club offseason as she left Solar and joined IMG Academy. Armstrong was a First Team All-Conference selection for Solar. She immediately earns a high ranking in Florida even though she has hardly played for IMG at this point. The outside back with Youth National Team appearances is definitely one to watch in the Girls Academy this season, as she takes on the new challenge.
Sophia Brelage Sophia Brelage null | D Archbishop McCarthy | 2025 State #72 Nation FL is the type of player that stands out from the crowd to scouts. Her highlight video is a perfect example of what makes her different, also makes her great. She starts the clip with a bit of skill for a goal, and then immediately shows an effort play of her just out-hustling anyone else on the field to pressure the opposing defender into a mistake in a spot no where near the goal. It’s such a nondescript moment of a game, and one that would never make a highlight film, but it’s a perfect example of Brelage’s game. She is the type of player who does those things that are not flashy, but matter for winning teams and winning programs.
Wooten is one of those aforementioned players who earned a spot on the ECNL National Training Camp. She is a midfielder who seems to always been around the ball. She already looks like a college player in how she moves on the field. There is a conviction to her actions that gives her teammates confidence she is making winning, impactful plays. She is an excellent passer and had a number of assists during the last ECNL season. She is one of eight of Jacksonville FC players in the rankings for this class of Florida.
There is such an obvious path to Tutas being a great player at the next level that is easy to see why a number of scouts will be watching the Tampa Bay squad in the ECNL this season. Tutas is listed as a defender, midfielder, forward as her position but it is more accurate to describe her as a wide player. She is great at playing in the channel – preferably the right one. She is a runner with the stamina to get up and down the field. She has specialized 1v1 skills that make her an elite option out there.

is one of the most exciting talents in Florida in this class. She is a dynamic midfielder who just explodes off the screen in game film. When she is on the ball and running at the defense, she seems to hit another gear. Her quick feet and explosive change of pace have made her one of the top attacking midfielders in the ECNL, but she probably has a bright future as a two-way midfielder as well. She has impressive technique with slide tackles in the open field. Egan has big-time potential and will be one name to know for this season.
