He’s got blazing speed up top and a terrific touch. But his finishing abilities is what stands out most. So far, Garcia has scored 10 goals with two assists to lead the Blue Devils to a 5-1-2 start.
M Evan Kanellos, New Trier, Sr.
Kanellos is an outstanding playmaker in the middle of the field. He does a terrific job reading opponents and making good decisions with the ball. F Carson Belcher, Conant, Sr.
Wow! What a terrific start to the season Conant has had. Nobody has expected them to climb the ladder this high in the opening weeks. This past week, they beat state powerhouses Fremd, West Chicago, and Lyons. Their most productive player this season has been Belcher. He has 10 goals and five assists in nine games this season, Most recently, he scored the game-winning goal in the second half to beat Fremd 1-0.
D Kacper Dziubek, Stagg, Jr.
There have been a lot of players on Stagg who have stood out recently. Stagg recently tied Lyons, and picked up wins over St. Ignatius, St. Laurence, Bolingbrook, Lockport, and Notre Dame. Dziubek has been a big X-factor in their success. He makes great runs and does an excellent job stopping counter attacks. He scored to give Stagg a lead over Lyons last week, before the Lions tied it. He’s found several more goals and produced lots of scoring chances throughout the season.
D Nick Roe, Benet Academy, Jr.
The potential for Nick Roe is off the charts. Not only does me make outstanding defensive plays, but he can be a factor on offense. Shows nice size and strength on defense, but has lots of tools that make him a terrific goal-scorer and playmaker. He can shoot with both feet, and got bounce for headers. He also pins long balls at a very consistent rate.
M Sean Flannery, Lockport, Sr.
Flannery is one of Lockport’s top returners from last season’s 4A state finalist squad. He’s a terrific all-around player for the Porters who’s capable of playing multiple positions. Earlier in the season, he scored an overtime goal to edge past St. Laurence in the Windy City Ram Classic. Flannery has 5 goals and 4 assists so far this season. Lockport has started the year 5-1-1.
F Miguel Navarro, Elgin, Sr.
Several players have stepped up for a Maroons squad who returns plenty, and looks to make a playoff run. Last weekend, Elgin picked up their biggest win of the season against an exceptionally talented St. Charles East squad. Navarro scored two goals that game. One of them came from a beautiful free-kick goal from 30 yards out in the second half to help secure a 3-1 upset win. The senior forward has lots of power to his shot, and displays confidence scoring from all over the field. He has six goals and two assists this season.
F Bryce Davis, Civic Memorial, Sr.
Davis Currently leads all Illinois players in points this season (according to MaxPreps). Last season, he scored a school-record 35 goals for a 2A Civic Memorial squad who made a sectional run last season. This year, they’re 9-1 with their only loss coming to state runner-up Triad 1-0. Davis already has 25 goals and three assists. He shows lot of creativity with the ball and can break off defenders for some strong finishes.
