Texas Girl’s High-School: Preseason Top 5 (6A)

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Dallas, TX</strong>: The start of the high school soccer season in Texas (UIL) is still a few months away, but approaching fast. North Texas boasts some of the best players and high-school programs out there. With so much local talent, it's not surprising that five of the last seven state champions have come from this region (6A Girls). In this article we will be ranking the <strong>Top 5 Teams of Region 1 6A Girls </strong>for the upcoming 2022-23 season. These rankings are based upon how successful these programs were in 2021-22, and the top all-state and all-region players who will make a major impact on the 2022-23 season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:list {"ordered":true,"type":"1"} --> <ol type="1"><li>Southlake Carroll</li><li>Marcus (Flower-Mound)</li><li>Allen</li><li>Prosper</li><li>McKinney Boyd</li></ol> <!-- /wp:list --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Overall, <strong>Southlake Carroll</strong> takes the number one spot. Rightfully so, as they are the reigning state champs who had three freshmen that received honors last year, including <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='26916' first='Kennedy' last='Fuller']</strong> who was the state player of the year. Southlake will certainly be looking to go back-to-back in 2023.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>2^nd team all state: <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='27140' first='Olivia' last='Geller']</strong> – Goal Keeper – (2025)</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>1^st team all state: <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='26916' first='Kennedy' last='Fuller']</strong> – Midfielder – (2024*) - Fuller reclassified as a 2024 commit on Sept. 28.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>2^nd team all state: <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='26768' first='Hannah' last='Jordan']</strong> – Midfielder – (2025)</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Marcus High School</strong> is in the second spot. For years Marcus has been one of the most relevant programs when it comes to Texas high school soccer. In 2023, a trio of talented juniors who received honors last season will be tasked with carrying on that tradition. Forwards <strong>Bella Campos</strong> and <strong>Maddie Reynolds </strong>will be leading the Marauders attack while <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='26620' first='Chloe' last='Adams']</strong> will be holding down the back line this year as seniors. They will be seeking to build off last year's great season and deep playoff run, and are definitely a squad to watch in 2023.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Honorable mention all state: <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='26620' first='Chloe' last='Adams']</strong> – Defender – (2023)</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Honorable mention all state: <strong>Bella Campos</strong> – Forward – (2023)</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>2^nd team all region: <strong>Maddie Reynolds</strong> – Forward – (2023)</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Allen has a storied history of producing great athletes, and this season is no different.  They have three players who are coming off all-region honors. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='26516' first='Ava' last='McDonald']</strong> was named to the 1^st team all-region as a freshman, and will certainly be looking to improve upon her stellar 2021-22 season. Meanwhile, the pair of D1 committed seniors <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='26346' first='Melania' last='Fullerton'] </strong>and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='26966' first='Lauren' last='Woodruff'] </strong>will be headlining the Eagles midfield in 2023.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Honorable mention all state: <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='26346' first='Melania' last='Fullerton']</strong> – Midfielder- (2023)</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>1^st team all region: <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='26966' first='Lauren' last='Woodruff']</strong> – Midfielder – (2023)</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>1^st team all region: <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='26516' first='Ava' last='McDonald']</strong> – Forward – (2025)</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Prosper sits in the 4^th spot largely due to a pair of juniors who were 2^nd team all-state and 2^nd team all-region respectively. Forward<strong> [player_tooltip player_id='26700' first='Emma' last='Yolinsky']</strong> made a name for herself last year as a major attacking threat, and will be leading the attack in 2022-23 (Yolinsky is a serious contender for the 2023 “Golden Boot”). Last season, Prosper's playoff run ended prematurely and I suspect this early exit coupled with some supremely talented seniors will have the Eagles in the running for the state title in 2023.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>2^nd team all region: <strong>Beya Rosales</strong> – Defender – (2024)</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>2^nd team all state: <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='26700' first='Emma' last='Yolinsky']</strong> – Forward – (2024)</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>McKinney Boyd rounds out the top 5. Last season Boyd had a solid year which saw the Broncos make it to the regional quarterfinal; and with a new head coach and loads of talent they are poised to make another deep playoff run in 2023. They are returning three 2021-22 all-region award winners who will be back for the upcoming season.
