All-America Watch List: Girls Midfielders
Throughout the season, PrepSoccer.com will focus on the top candidates for the PrepSoccer All-America honors. Today, we check out the leading girls midfield candidates for fall-playing states. There will be additional players added to the Watch List in the upcoming weeks. From match observation, 2021 PrepSoccer.com accolades and coach recommendations, here are some names to know:
Ava Bramblett, Noblesville (Ind.), Sr., Ohio State
Bramblett has been the quarterback the past few years of the Noblesville program that has been one of the best in the nation. This season, she has 12 goals as the team is 16-1 and among the favorites to win the Indiana 3A state title.
Danielle Davis, Friends Academy (N.Y.), Sr., Clemson
Davis pulled off one of the most stunning goals of the year on Sept. 20 against New Hyde Park. Seeing that the pitch was a bit smaller than the team’s usual playing surfaces, Davis took the kickoff, made one touch then launched a shot that found the net — a goal from the opening kickoff in what turned out to be yet another Friends Academy victory. Davis had nine goals and six assists as the team started the season 8-0.
Paige Kalal, Champlin Park (Minn.), Sr., Minnesota
Champlin Park had been a title contender in recent years, but this has slid to mid-table in a difficult league. Still, Kalal is having a stellar season with 15 goals and 11 assists. In fact, she’s been part of all but 14 goals for a team that is about to start postseason play.
Lisa McIntyre, Springside-Chestnut Hill (Pa.), Sr., Maryland
McIntyre always seems to deliver the important goal when it’s needed. She scored the winner in a 1-0 victory over Episcopal Academy. She scored to help SCH rally for a 2-2 tie with Pennington School (N.J.) in a clash of nationally ranked teams.
Kennedy Neighbors, Evansville Memorial (Ind.), Sr., Indiana
Neighbors has been part of nearly half of the goals scored by Evansville Memorial this season en route to an 18-0-1 start. She has 14 goals and 20 assists. The Tigers are looking at a Top 10 final ranking if it can bring home the state title.
Melina Rebimbas, Rutgers Prep (N.J.), Sr., North Carolina
Rebimbas is, without a doubt, the top high school player in the nation. But her high school season appears to be over. She will be part of the U.S. Under-17 National Team that is competing in the World Cup next month and has not played a high school match since mid-September. Rebimbas started out the high school season with nine goals and nine assists in Rutgers Prep’s first four matches.
Elly Slensky, Lower Merion (Pa.), Sr., Boston College
Lower Merion is off to a 12-1-1 start thanks in part to the offensive production of Slensky. Lower Merion is 9-0-1 in its last 10 matches and the lone blemish is a draw with nationally ranked Conestoga.
Isabella Winn, Ridgewood (N.J.), Jr., UCLA
A recent commit to UCLA, Winn has produced 16 goals and nine assists as Ridgewood has started the season 12-0. The hot start has earned the squad a FAB 50 national ranking, and the team already has to wins over FAB 50-ranked Ramapo, which has a victory over FAB 50-ranked Immaculate Heart Academy.
Kaeyln Wolfe, Villa Maria Academy (Pa.), Sr., Penn State
Wolfe is simply on another level in most of Villa Maria’s matches. To start this week, she scored two goals and assisted on three in a 7-2 victory over Merion Mercy. She has been averaging two goals per match as Villa Maria is off to a 13-1 start.
