Argueta scored a key brace for United in their tough 3-2 win over Atlanta United U17 Academy on Saturday. Although he is the club’s number nine, he has just four goals this season. That isn’t necessarily to say that he hasn’t been involved with the attack, but that he has been more focused with the setup of the club’s attacking plays. If he is now moving more into taking shots versus creating them for others that will give United another real solid piece up top.
United followed up their victory over Atlanta with another strong effort on Sunday, edging TSF Academy 2-1. Turner was once again the lightning rod on the attack netting a brace for D.C. In addition to his scoring prowess, his passing was on point making several quality passes to the outside to open up the TSF defense. His speed and solid first touch make him a deadly attacking for United although one has to wonder how much longer he will be available for the Academy and when he will receive a Homegrown contract.
Chavez scored a cracking strike to lift SYC U19s over PDA 5-4 on the weekend. The speedy midfielder took on multiple defenders and broke past them with relative ease, then hammered home a low shot to the near post. He is a bit of an interesting story in that he comes to SYC from D.C. United’s Academy. He was also part of the USYNT ID Pool at the U14 level. He has excellent field vision and can make clear, direct passes to both sides of the pitch. A player of his caliber is a major addition for SYC and should help them throughout the season.
Zach Kovner

Kovner was integral to the U17 Armour defense in their close 0-0 draw against Real Jersey FC. The Georgetown Day Prep keeper made several key stops in the second half to preserve the draw and led a highly organized that kept the RJFC out of the eighteen yard box for large portions of the match. A two-sport athlete (he also does track and field at Georgetown) he is excellent at reading attackers intentions and positioning himself to make the stop.
Michel started Armour’s U17s weekend on a high note, scoring a brace to lift them past FC Dalco 2-0. The 2006 forward has been on a scoring tear for Armour this season, netting eight goals and helping his side in MLS Mid-Atlantic Division play. Michel is excellent at finding space in between defenders and exploiting, using a quick first touch to put his opponents on their heels. If he can continue to find chances in open space, Armour may make a deep run in this year’s MLSNext Cup Playoffs.
Xavier Tanyi

Tanyi knocked home a hat trick for Bethesda in their massive 6-0 win over PA Classics. The 2024 attacking midfielder was drove directly at the Classic defense for all three goals, using his size and speed to disrupt their organization. That in turn led to more opportunities for his teammates, including goals from Salif Leintu, Emeric Nicol, and Alexander Casteel. The Washington International Schooler g
