Popa has committed to playing college next season at Miami University of Ohio. Popa has been a dominant force in goal for both her club side (Bethesda SC) and at the high school level for Arundel High School. She is an excellent shot-stopper, able to make the timely defensive stop one-on-one against an attacker as well as the occasional acrobatic effort. In terms of her patience and delivery, she a has good understanding of when to make her throws/punts and has a good grasp at defensive organization. The MAC is typically a very strong defensive conference so she should fit in quite nicely with the Redhawks.
Avery has committed to playing college soccer in 2024 at the University of Louisville. She is an athletic forward that likes to use her speed to create chances down the left flank. While her strong left foot makes her an excellent goalscorer, she can also deliver booming pinpoint crosses into the box from distance. That coupled with ability to find space and exploit it, makes her a very strong addition for the Cardinals in two years time.
Another member of the Class of 2024, Schneider has verbally committed to playing at the University of Pittsburgh. A lockdown defender that can make quick, timely clears she has risen to be one of the top defenders in the country. This season with The St. James FC Virginia in the Girls Academy League, her side has not allowed a single goal in three matches and last season won the Mid-Atlantic Conference Championship. She has been a member of the US Youth National Team system from U14-U16 and the GA National Talent ID Pool.
Winer has verbally committed to playing college soccer at the University of Maryland-College Park in 2024. She has superb tracking and marking abilities and has really thrived for Arlington against some tough competition in the ECNL Mid-Atlantic Division. The Terrapins are going through a bit of a change in philosophy with new coach Meghan Ryan Nemzer emphasizing tighter organization along the backline and more building from the back. That should suit Winer perfectly in 2024 with more opportunities for starting time out of the gate.
Ring has committed to playing college soccer next season at Fairfield University. Ring is a four year member of Lightfield High School’s Girls Varsity team and has been a starter for Virginia Development Academy’s 04/05 team that has allowed just four goals in league play this season. She has excellent vision between the posts and takes solid angles when making saves in one-on-one situations. She is also very good at organizing her backline on set pieces using her teammates not just to mark, but also to clear out any dangerous chances.
Toms has verbally committed to playing college soccer at the United States Naval Academy in 2024. Toms is a highly experienced defender that is Pipeline’s 2006 ECNL captain. She was a member of the ECNL All-Conference North Atlantic second team last season and has had a strong season in high school soccer with Williamsport High School, including a game-tying goal off of a corner kick two weeks ago. She is excellent at reading attackers and making precise runs to quell counter-attacks and can make decisive clears in the box.
