FREDERICK, Md. — A little bit of rain and a late run from the Walkersville Lions did not stop the Frederick Cadets as they continued their march up the Central Maryland Conference Spires Division boys soccer standings with a convincing 4-1 win on Thursday night.
Frederick got things started with a goal from Edilsen Barbosa in the fifth minute. They added an insurance goal early in the second half with Liam McKay polishing off a chance down the left flank in the 42nd minute. Walkersville made things interesting in the 65th minute with Jordan Reese pulling them back to within one. But the Cadets slammed the door shut on any thoughts of a comeback with midfielder Jimmy Diaz netting a brace late (75th and 80th).
