Continue ReadingU.S. Soccer is hosting a Talent Identification Center in Chicago next week for the 2009 age group. The regional identification events are an introduction to the U.S. Soccer scouting network as well as an opportunity for players learn about the pathway to call-up to a Youth National Team.
Next week’s ID center in Chicago features some of the top talent from the Midwest. Chicago Fire leads the way with nine players called into the one-day training. Sockers, St. Louis Scott Gallagher, Lou Fusz, and Elmbrook United all had four players selected for the event. Elmbrook is the lone club from outside of MLS Next with representation at the Talent ID. Patrick Brimmer, from Elmbrook United (Wisconsin), is the only 2010-born player at the event.

Steven Foristal Steven Foristal D State MO
Foristal is a defender with good size. He plays in the center of a back three, but he is capable of playing outside back as well. He is a good passer with either foot and shows a solid understanding of defensive position. Foristal is one of four players from St. Louis Scott Gallagher at this event. Alex Jundt Alex Jundt F State MO is a technical midfielder who is excellent in combination play. Yuichiro Ota Yuichiro Ota M State MO is a forward/attacking midfielder with good skill. Cruz Gonzalez Cruz Gonzalez M State #89 Nation MO is another midfielder who has a good first touch and does well in positioning his body to open up into space. The St. Louis Scott Gallagher U14 MLS Next team is a bright attacking group with 11 goals scored through the first four games of the season.
Jaiden Shah
Jaiden Shah
Shah might be the most exciting prospect in this group. The 2009 midfielder has already earned a role with the FC United U15 MLS Next team, he is playing up an age. He is a two-way player who is perfect in a double pivot system. He has done well in tackles and duels while playing against bigger, older opponents. He is clean on the ball and plays effectively with simple passes to keep his side in possession of the ball. He will be one to watch from this event as he plays against players his age.
Mali Esquivel
Mali Esquivel
Esquivel is a nasty attacking midfielder. He is an exceptional passer. For the U14 level, he is a real weapon because he can punish any defense with a variety of passes and the ability to switch the point of attack in a blink of an eye with a cross-field pass hit on a dime. Esquivel has big-time potential.
rnBerg is one of the nine Fire Academy players taking part in this training center. The left center back has the potential to be a player for the Fire for a long time. He has good size, skill, and drive. He is a shutdown defender who is good in aerial duels. He is left-footed and comfortable on the ball under pressure.
