I got to see their opening-round match against Sun Prairie East in person. There were lots that impressed me in this game. I got to see Memorial’s future in Eduardo Gonzalez-Terrero shine bright with a beautiful goal midway through the second half to give the Knights the advantage. About 10 minutes later, star midfielder

made a run and hit a low-hard shot into the bottom corner of the goal. Memorial would hold on for a 2-0 win. On Saturday, they avenged an earlier season loss to Madison Memorial and sent them packing in a penalty shootout. Denu scored and also took over goalkeeper duties in the shootout.
Ganter brothers overlooked at Sun Prairie East
I was really impressed with how a pair of brothers played for Sun Prairie East at Beloit last Tuesday. Senior goalkeeper Carsten Ganter shined bright. He’s a strong goalkeeper technically and was super quick off his line. He blocked numerous 1v1 opportunities and created problems for Beloit attackers. He had no chance on the two goals against him. On the other hand, his younger brother TJ Ganter is a center back to watch in 2025. He won almost every header in the air and prevented several counter-attacks. His positioning was also solid.

made news as he committed to his hometown team at Wisconsin. He’s the Badger’s first commitment in the Class of 2024. After that, he put on a show for Verona, scoring twice and assisting twice to take down Sun Prairie West 5-1. Gage is electric in space and creates nightmares for CDMs and CBs. They’ll face Beloit Memorial coming up.
Waukesha West storms to D2 regional
Waukesha West finished second in the Classic Eight this season, just one point behind Arrowhead. Waukesha West steamrolled through its regional contests. It first took down city rival Waukesha North 6-0. West was led by freshman Andrew James, who scored two goals. In the regional final, senior

went on a tear. He scored twice and assisted twice in a 9-0 rout over Milwaukee South. He leads the team with 15 goals and eight assists this season. West will have a tough matchup with Brookfield Central coming up.
Jack Bretzmann continues his scoring tear
Bretzmann is one of the top sophomores in the state. He’s put up excellent scoring numbers this season and can play multiple positions. The opening two rounds of the playoffs were no different. Bretzmann started things off with a hat trick against Martin Luther. The team’s regional finale against Kettle Moraine Lutheran was much closer, but Bretzmann was surely the difference maker. He scored twice and assisted in a 3-0 win. NBE is currently ranked No. 2 in Division 3 and will face Pius XI coming up.
