Onto the commitments!
Schwarz has verbally committed to playing college soccer next season at Salisbury University. A defensive player who alternates between center back and center defensive midfield, Jack likes to help build possession from the back for both his club side Richmond United and at Deep Run High School. He is a strong defender that marks his opponents tightly, making timely clears and passes when necessary. He has shown a willingness to go into the attack as well when necessary, and can make long crosses to his teammates to kickstart counterattacks.
Boettcher has verbally committed to playing college soccer next season at Holy Cross. The 6’1″ goalkeeper out of Loudoun United’s ECNL program is one of the top goalkeepers in the state of Virginia from the 2005 age group. On one-versus-one situations versus an attacker, he takes excellent angles to help give him the best opportunity to making a decisive stop. In terms of his athleticism, he grew up as a four sport athlete playing both football, basketball, and swimming. It shows in his ball control and shot-stopping abilities as he makes acrobatic saves look easy.
Apostoulou has verbally committed to playing college soccer next season at Washington and Lee, one of the top Division 3 sides in the country. The Generals play a very up-tempo style which fits Apostoulou’s style perfectly. The left-footed midfielder likes to break down defenses with his darting runs down the left flank. He possesses ample speed and a tight first touch, making him a dangerous player in the college game. He is also adept at both hitting the long distance strike when necessary and laying crosses into the box for open teammates.
Nathan Smith
Nathan Smith
Smith has verbally committed to playing college soccer next fall at Cornell University. A longtime member of Bethesda SC’s MLS Next side, Smith is a part of a core of players that have been with the side since the U12 level. He is an excellent passer and has great field vision, allowing him to make both long crosses as well as hit short passes into open space. He also has a bit of physicality in his game and is unafraid to go up for 50-50 balls on the ground and in the air. He will be joining fellow BSC alumni Kisa Kiingi.
Conor Cohen
Conor Cohen
Cohen has verbally committed to playing college soccer next season at Lafayette University. A box-to-box midfielder, Cohen is instrumental in building ASA’s attack and moving the side into an attacking posture. He has started getting more involved with finishing the club’s chances and thus giving his side another attacking piece. His ball control and movement off of the ball will undoubtedly help the Leopards who have needed midfield depth this season.
