Connolly has verbally committed to playing college soccer next season at Hamilton College. The St. Paul’s School goalkeeper has excellent footwork and a great sense of timing in terms of when to go out for open balls. She is very athletic and has made some impressive diving stops for Bethesda SC throughout the years. Furthermore, she is very much a leader on the pitch and can often be heard giving directions to her teammates to organize during counter-attacks and set plays. NESCAC is a very strong attacking conference so The Continentals adding an experienced goalkeeper in Connolly should pay immediate dividends.
Lauren Bullock
Lauren Bullock
Bullock has verbally committed to playing college soccer next season at American University. Bullock is a strong center-back that can also play right back due to her speed and pace. She consistently makes quality clearances for her club side Maryland United as well as for her previous club Baltimore Celtic. The John Carroll school senior also seems very comfortable with the ball at her feet, helping retain possession for long stretches. Having those skills will prove beneficial to her at American, who place heavy emphasis on ball control and possession.
Bernetti has verbally committed to playing college soccer next season at Campbell University. A right-footed defender, Bernetti is very adept at reading where attackers are looking to go and adjusting her positioning accordingly. She does a superb job at closing gaps, whether as the first defender directly engaging her opponent or as support looking to block crosses or long balls into the box. That she also has a booming right foot that can clear dangerous balls in the box certainly doesn’t hurt. For both club and school (Maryland United FC/Archbishop Spalding) she has proven to be a valuable asset on corner kicks and set pieces as well.
Izzy Wymer
Izzy Wymer
Wymer has verbally committed to playing college soccer next season at Stevenson University (She is a 2006 that will be graduating a year early). A speedy winger that has a cannon of a right foot, Wymer can break past defenders with relative ease and create bundles of goal-scoring opportunities. She makes smart, calculated runs when on the attack, always giving herself enough space to either take a shot or make a timely pass. In addition to her work on the pitch, she is also a Team Representative for Celtic in the Girls Academy League’s Advisory Panel
Ainsley Yates
Ainsley Yates
Yates has verbally committed to playing college soccer next season at Lynchburg College. The Hereford Bulls have punched their ticket into the Maryland 2A State Tournament thanks in large part to Yates’ work along the backline. She makes strong, expert tackles that disrupts the opposition’s flow on the attack and is unafraid to make challenges in the air. Comfortable playing either as a right-back or a right center-back the Celtic defender has shown a willingness to get involved in the attack, either through short passes into open space or via long balls into the box.
Auben Ball
Auben Ball
Ball has verbally committed to playing college soccer next season at William Smith College. The Bullis School senior is a versatile player, having previously played goalkeeper, defensive midfielder, and in the defense but more recently at the forward position. That experience definitely impacts her style on the pitch in a positive way as she seems very attuned to how both her club and school sides are organized in multiple spots on the pitch. In addition to playing soccer, she also plays hockey at the varsity level as well figure skates. That way she attacks goal is very similar to how a hockey player might go towards goal in a hockey match-at a diagonal angle and very direct with speed. As she continues to develop as a forward, that unique approach will come in handy as it isn’t a style that defenders see often.
Angelina Serrano
Angelina Serrano
Serrano has verbally committed to playing college soccer next season at Catholic University. Her club side, FCGB, are new to the Washington D.C. Metro soccer scene having just started in 2017. But they have made huge strides in their girls program, seeing major successes in EDP and the USYS National League. One of those success stories is Serrano, a very technical defender who plays her high school soccer at powerhouse Our Lady of Good Counsel. The strong center-back is equally capable of delivering a key emergency clearance as she is a clever pass to jump start the attack. She can also move the ball efficiently up the field, very rarely making a mistake.
