Boggs has verbally committed to playing college soccer in 2024 at the University of Tennessee. The Independence High Schooler is a bit of jack of all trades, having played at both the wingback, centerback, defensive midfielder, and outside back positions. With both her high school and club team Virginia Development Academy she seems to be settling into outside back as of late which incorporates her expert tackling and speed on the counter-attack the best. The Lady Volunteers like to build chances from the back which Boggs should fit in nicely with in a years time.
Batoon has verbally committed to playing college soccer in 2024 at Howard University. The North Point striker who plays her club soccer at Virginia Union can maneuver through tight spaces and can create her own chances in dangerous territory. She is always moving, always looking for space to exploit and create attacking chances. Although she seems comfortable having the ball at both feet, she has a strong left foot which can be used to hit shots from distance.
Sophie Viscovich
Sophie Viscovich
Viscovich has committed to playing college soccer next season at Washington University. A number ten in the midfield, Viscovich is an experienced leader who has helped both her club and high school side during some challenging times this season. She is very patient and can delivery timely passes to open up the attack or to slow down opponents looking to score. She has excellent field vision and can pick teammates in open space with relative ease.
Molly Brunk
Molly Brunk
Brunk has committed to playing college soccer next season at Manhattan College. An acrobatic goalkeeper with excellent field vision, Brunk has proven to be a steadying force for both her club side Fairfax Brave and with Fairfax High School. She makes excellent reads in one-versus-one situations against attackers and has excellent timing when making a diving stop. What’s interesting is how much playing basketball for her high school has helped her on the soccer pitch. Since both sports, and goalkeeper in particular, which require excellent timing and superior footwork it isn’t a surprise that she is one of the top goalkeepers in the region.
Bell has committed to playing college soccer next season at Bloomsburg University. Bell possesses both excellent speed and ball distribution skills, making her a very deadly player up top for both Sparrows Point and the Baltimore Celtic. Her first touch, either when in possession or in taking a shot, is always precise allowing her extra time to either make a decisive pass or go for the shot. That she can break past defenders on give-and-go situations certainly helps as well.
Shapiro has committed to playing college soccer next season at the University of Washington (Missouri). Her commitment is interesting because although she just finished helping Whitman win the Maryland State 4A Championship (she actually scored in the final) she will be going to Washington to play goalkeeper. As a goalkeeper she has excellent footwork and can make decisive clears in the box. Having that understanding of how positions operate is actually a benefit as she is an expert at organizing her backline and can help pick out attackers.
