In the women’s college recruiting, most of the players in the PrepSoccer National Rankings have made their verbal commitments. A few of the top targets are still out there, but much of the class has now landed on a future home.
On the men’s side, the recruiting is starting to heat up with Notre Dame landing a pair, plus a few other highly regarded programs picking up top recruits. Check out the impact recruits from the past few weeks.
Mihalek is a center back from Tampa, who made his verbal commitment to Maryland recently. The Terps are getting one of the top players in that position in this class heading to the college game. He is versatile enough to play as either a left or right center back. He is right-footed but comfortable with either foot. He is calm under pressure and does well in his distribution. He has played up an age group for much of his club career, and done well against bigger players. He has the tools to contribute for Maryland early on during his college career.
Notre Dame landed a top goalkeeper in Blake Kelly Blake Kelly null | GK #17 Nation UT . The Real Salt Lake academy player is headed to South Bend, which has shown the ability to identify and develop top talent in that position. Kelly has been a standout at the position in the MLS academy ranks. He has a big frame with a good wingspan. He has the athleticism to cover the whole net. He is active off his line and likes to get involved in possession. He is good with his feet and can ping the ball anywhere on the field. Sporting KC midfielder Jacob Bartlett also committed to Notre Dame recently. It’s a stellar group for the Irish.
Castenfelt was one of the top targets left in the 2024 class. The attacking midfielder is part of the US Youth National Team program. She is heading to Georgia, which is an exciting addition for the program on the rise. Georgia went after local talent had in 2023, and now looks to be expanding into the national landscape for top prospects in 2024. Castenfelt should be an early contributor. She is smooth on the ball and clever with her passing. Castenfelt could be the building-block for a special 2024 class for Georgia.
The TCU 2024 class is up to 10 players now. It’s a large and diverse group. Harrington is a defender from Florida. She has been part of US Soccer Talent Identification Centers in the region. She is also a standout from ODP events. Harrington could be an early standout from this large recruiting class as she is a tough tackling player who loves to compete.
