BCP features five of the 11, with three of those five already committed to Division I programs. The Bells won 10 matches last year, but with all of these returning stars, expect this to be a very big season for them.
Let’s learn about those five, and the other six, that make up this preseason team from San Jose.
FORWARDS: Kavi Krishnan headlines this group of two as the creative forward, who is already committed to UC Santa Barbara, should be the most feared attacking player in the West Catholic Athletic League. Xavier Van Loben Sels of JSerra was a first-team All-WCAL selection a year ago. A smaller forward, but a very creative and athletic one.
MIDFIELDERS: Kasdan Blattman hasn’t committed to a college program yet, but last year’s WCAL Midfielder of the Year certainly will be playing at the next level. Dylan Joudieh was a second-team all-league player for JSerra last year and returns as one of the better midfielders. A pair of St. Francis players, Shawn Garlick Shawn Garlick M CA and John Kenney, round out the midfield. Both were second-team all-league as juniors last season.
DEFENDERS: Keagan Rhodes Keagan Rhodes D CA of Bellarmine has played forward for the Bells in the past, but he committed to Santa Clara as an outside back and will be playing mostly outside back for the Bells. He is joined on the team by his teammate, Jimmy Moore, who was second team All-WCAL last season as a junior. Bryan Kim Bryan Kim GK CA of Mountain View was the defensive MVP of the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League and should easily be considered that league’s top defender. Another Mountain View player, Jamieson DeAngelis, joins Kim on the team as he was a first-team all-leaguer last year.
KEEPER: Nick Thiele is a UC San Diego commit who is replacing the WCAL’s Keeper of the year in Mikey Macias. Thiele was with the De Anza Force Academy, but is playing for Bellarmine in his senior season and will be able to play with his younger brother, Lucas, who is a junior and is in his second year with the program.
