Temperatures plummeted in Minnesota, but that didn’t keep the players, fans, or coaches away! The dome was warm, and the games were thrilling! Here are just a few of the many talented players that deserve an extra mention!
Leah Hamilton
Leah Hamilton
Hamilton impressed with her swift movements both on and off the ball. Everything she does has a purpose. From her positioning to her passing, nothing she does is by chance or luck.
Caroline Curran
Caroline Curran
Speed is an obvious asset of an elite soccer player. Curran takes that a step further, ending her run with a very powerful and accurate leg on her. If Curran got the ball to the corner, there was no doubt it was making it to the 18 yard box. She also had great chemistry with her teammate, Lydia Benson this weekend.
Lydia Benson
Lydia Benson
It is clear that Benson has excellent knowledge of the game. She showed this by being productive in multiple field positions throughout the match. Offensively she shows great vision, while defensively she was never caught without a mark. She showed all the qualities of a well rounded player.
Julia Taurinskas
Julia Taurinskas
What I love most about Taurinskas is she was never caught flat footed. Her style was to pass and move 100% of the time. She is very good at not only offering support, but communicating that to her team. If I was needing someone to have my back on the field, I know I could count on Taurinskas. It is also clear that hard work is in her blood, because she maintains a 4.0 GPA.
Isabella Thomas
Isabella Thomas
Thomas has noticeable ball handling skills. She is able to pin-point passes at a distance and plays with an obvious hunger to win. To make her even more dangerous, she has a natural left foot that will take you by surprise.
Avery Heinz
Avery Heinz
You don’t need to see her arm band to know Heinz is a captain. Her game play will give it away. Heinz doesn’t wait for the play, she makes it happen. She is always on the move and in constant communication with her teammates. She checks to every ball with an urgency to move up the field.
Ava Arredondo
Ava Arredondo
Arredondo has a big leg with very precise placement. Just as impressive is her GPA of 4.79!
Isabelle Kapanke
Isabelle Kapanke
Kapanke is a very versatile player. At the club level she plays defense, while on her high school team she plays forward. Her speed alone gives her a leg up on her competition no matter where she is on the field.
Greta Carlson
Greta Carlson
It would be hard not to notice Carlson as she put away two solid goals against Eden Prairie in a single game. She put herself in the right place at the right times, and I think her performance speaks for itself!
Ana Oenning
Ana Oenning
Oenning is very technically skilled. When the opportunity presents itself, she isn’t afraid to carry the ball up the field. Her passes are very clean and made with intention. All around she is a very dangerous player to find yourself going up against.
