Prep Soccer will be following the action closely, covering as many matches as possible every week and providing reports featuring the players that had remarkable performances in those encounters. On Tuesday, we were at the match between the Travis Lady Tigers and the Ridge Point Lady Panthers, which took place in Richmond.
Travis 1 – 9 Ridge Point
The undefeated Ridge Point secured their tenth win in the season (and the seventh in Region 3, District 20) in an emphatic way, dominating Travis (2-9 for the season, 2-5 in district play).
The Panthers scored their first goal within the first two minutes of the match with junior forward Justina Tennyson. A brace from senior midfielder Charlotte Richardson Charlotte Richardson null | F Ridge Point (TX) | 2023 TX took Ridge Point to the halftime break with a 3-0 lead.
Ridge Point didn’t slow down at the start of the second half and quickly got two more with Tennyson. Sophomore midfielder Camryn Letellier scored the sixth with a low shot that beat Travis’ goalkeeper Sydney Whitten and senior defender Taylor Vinson scored the most beautiful goal of the night, hitting a beautiful shot that went right into the upper corner.
Senior forward Gianna Jimenez got Travis’ lone goal of the evening, but midfielders Ashley Pugne (senior) and Kelsey Vaughn Kelsey Vaughn D Ridge Point | 2025 TX (sophomore) found the back of the net for Ridge Point before the final whistle.

The junior forward was a nightmare for Travis’ backline all night with her endless movement on and off the ball. Tennyson used her pace to beat defenders on the flanks and also to get in behind their backs and get in finishing positions. She scored a hat-trick thanks to her excellent movement off-the-ball and her calm in front of the goal but also worked hard to create opportunities to her teammates. She dribbled the ball very well and also made good combination plays in the attacking third.
Richardson was in excellent form in her midfielder role, creating chances for her teammates and repeatedly getting in position to finish. She was very aggressive on the ball and always looked to push it forward, be it with solo plays or by combining with her teammates. The midfielder displayed great vision to connect passes and even better finishing skills, scoring from outside the box twice with a beautiful shot and getting inside the penalty box to finish.
Kara Canetti
Kara Canetti
Ridge Point’s captain was dominant in the center of the field, making a huge impact in the game from her defensive midfield role. Originally a defender, Canetti controlled the tempo with her passing and moved the ball around extremely well. She worked hard on defense and was very calm on the ball, always finding ways to break pressure and find a teammates. Canetti fed Tennyson with a beautiful through pass in the team’s opening goal.
Taylor Vinson
Taylor Vinson
Capable of playing anywhere on the left, Vinson was excellent in her fullback role. She had no trouble stopping Travis’ offensive attempts in her side and also won some balls in the air. The most impact she made on the match, however, was on offense. Vinson pushed forward frequently and made intelligent choices between passing to a teammate or trying to beat an opponent off the dribble. She scored a beautiful goal with a curled shot from outside the penalty box that went over Travis’ goalkeeper.
Emma Quintanilla

A freshman, Quintanilla was Travis’ most clearheaded player in a difficult night for the team. She had to work really hard and move a lot to get on the ball in her midfield position, but made good plays when she was in possession. Quintanilla often had to battle multiple teammates in the middle and used her body well to shield the ball and create space. She also displayed some quality in set pieces.
