The updated rankings see Brady Conlon from East Kentwood and Midwest United as the No. 1 player in the class. There is some movement in the top three. Below is a breakdown of the top ten players from the class.
The center midfielder from the Midwest United U17 MLS Next team continues to impress. Midwest United went undefeated at the showcase event in California in December with some impressive results. Conlon is the catalyst for the side. He wins duels, connects passes, and does a bit of everything. He has the stamina to join the attack and make the long full-field runs to jump-start the counter. He also has the vision to make the key pass in the final third. Conlon is the prototype of the center midfielder at the college level. He should be an early target for top programs from the 2025 class.

Swan is quickly climbing the most exciting players outside of an MLS academy ranking. He is listed as forward, but he could also be an attacking midfielder. He is gaining interest from a number of MLS clubs so it might only be a matter of time for how long he is on this list – the PrepSoccer state rankings use the player’s club for the listed state. Swan has been making a big impact in MLS Next and earned opportunities to play up an age group. He appeared against Columbus Crew recently.
There are elements of Red Sylvester’s game that reminds me a lot of Matthew Roou. He just has this knack for sneaking past defenders and being super efficient with his chances. It’s not necessarily flashy, but it’s consistent and dependable. Sylvester has really improved on his finishing in the past year. He is turning into one of the most efficient finishers in MLS Next. He recently scored against Columbus Crew U17 MLS Next, as he starting to get the chance to play up an age group. He is a crafty forward who gets his toe on the ball and scores goals. Smart scouts will prioritize Sylvester from this class because he’s a difference-maker and a player who would make any team better.
Cassell continues the streak of Michigan Jaguars in the rankings. He is a technical midfielder who is clean in possession and good in making quick decisions on the ball. Michigan Jaguars play him as an attacking midfielder because he is so good at field awareness and finds space for himself to make an impact in the final third. Jaguars are at their best when Cassell is on the ball.
Elder is one of the most exciting prospects in Michigan from the 2025 class. He is a captain for the Michigan Wolves U17 MLS Next team. It feels like he can pop up in a bunch of spots on the field depending on the game. He has versatility and work rate to really shine for a midfield role. Elder usually ends up near the goal as he does well in getting into scoring positions when his team gets into the attacking third.
The defensive center midfielder for Michigan Jaguars has been a standout this season in MLS Next. He is excellent in anticipating and reading the game. He is calm in possession and does well in connecting passes quickly to his side. He is right-footed but comfortable on either foot. Priestap has qualities to be a big time prospect for the next level.

Zogaib is the best outside back in Michigan. He is a two-way player. He will shut down wingers and then immediately start the attack. He is impressive in his attacking quality as he offers enough to be considered another winger. Zogaib running down the wing is a threat, but he is also capable of hitting the early service with his excellent passing.

Spadafora is a player who caught the attention of scouts recently as he emerged as a key player for the Michigan Wolves U17 MLS Next team. He operates as a box-to-box midfielder but he has the versatility to play as an attacking midfielder too. He has quick feet and does well in poking the ball away in tackles. He is sharp on set pieces with the delivery and has come close on scoring directly off a corner kick this season.
McCoy is a box-to-box midfielder who is an influential player for this Michigan Wolves 07 MLS Next side. He is physical in the tackle and active off the ball. One of his best attributes is his willingness to make the runs and he has the quality to finish the chances when his sprints into the attack are rewarded with passes. McCoy has the quality to be an impact player at the youth level.

Miller is one of those players who has the stats to back up any lofty praise. He is a deep playmaker for Midwest United. He is a maestro passer, but he has popped up on more scouts radars this season because of his production in front of goal. He has six goals in his last four games in MLS Next play – part of that production has been on penalty kicks, but there are not many players in MLS Next putting up those numbers. Miller is a player to watch this Spring.
