Below is a breakdown of some of the players from the Georgia rankings. Check out this article on the top prospects from the Atlanta United Academy for more insight on this group.
Willis was one of the breakout players from the MLS Next event. He might not have the accolades of his teammates, but he is a winger to watch. He has the tools and speed to be a difference-maker in the future.
Flores feels like an old school talent. He does not fit in a mold of a current player in the development system. He has more of a free role with his team and he has a lot of freedom to try things. He makes it work because he has the skill to operate in tight spaces. He has flourished this season and earned a call-up to the US Youth National Team. He has the talent to be an international level player in the future.
Nathan Gray Nathan Gray M State #55 Nation GA is a top prospect in the Atlanta United system. He has bounced between the U16 and U17 teams this season. He had a unique role for the U17 team in the recent game against Charlotte FC. He was in the center of a back five at the start of the game and dropped into that same spot whenever Charlotte had possession. When Atlanta was in possession, he stepped up to a defensive midfielder hybrid spot. The system was reliant on his quality on the ball and ability to play out of pressure. It is easy to see why Atlanta United is scheming ways to get him into different roles on the field. He has top level potential.
Bright was a standout from the Boys ECNL playoffs over the summer. He is a winger with terrific upside. He is tough to stop in duels. He has burst and skill. He whips in a good cross. Bright is one of the top prospects from Boys ECNL.
Max Procida Max Procida D State GA had a standout game against Southern Soccer Academy in January during MLS Next play. The center back is a good defender. He is more athletic than you might expect. He has the pace to match up with top forwards. He is one that impressed during game film scouting.
In terms of physical attributes, Marcus Jean-Gilles Marcus Jean-Gilles F State GA is easily the standout of this class. Players that strong and big should not be that graceful or fast. It doesn’t seem fair. He is still a prospect though. Tormenta FC Academy plays through him but make him use his feet just as much as his strength so he is developing all aspects of his game. He can hold off defenders with his hand so that part is easy. When the ball gets stuck on his feet, he is trying to solve those challenges now. As long as he sticks with it and keeps working at it, he could be unstoppable.
