Continue ReadingWith the High school season underway most schools have played three or more games some being conference and non-conference. These games have allowed players to get into the season’s groove and there are already players putting in top performances. We have some of our ranked players and some newer under-the-radar players and are setting the tone for the season early. As we move through the season their performances will be ever more important as the playoffs approach.
(F) Alexandra Ross Alexandra Ross F Westminster Schools (GA) | 2023 State #89 Nation GA , Westminster HS
Allie has started the season in red hot form for Westminster, racking up an impressive 26 goals and keeping her team at the top and only one loss. She is one of the top ranked players in Georgia from the 2023 class. Her ability to finish consistently, get in behind opposition defenders, and press off the ball leads to her opportunities in front of goal. Her form will be a lightning rod for Westminster and how far they can go into the playoffs.
(S) Blanca Cruz, Shiloh HS
Another Unranked player Blanca’s impressive return in 10 games with 24 goals and 5 assists has her leading her team as they help stay at the top of a tough division. She took her breakout season last year and her junior season this year has been no different as she’s already at half of her goal total of last season. A quick and technical forward she can get in behind or drop to connect with her midfielders and set up her teammates. She can finish with both feet and is ruthless when given a chance. Coaches will have to keep tabs on her as the season progresses
(F) Ivy Tolbert Ivy Tolbert M Commerce (GA) | 2024 State #91 Nation GA , Commerce HS
Coming in at #3 in the Prep soccer rankings and also leading the stats in Georgia for girls’ soccer. Ivy has consistently proven she is the real deal and this season is no different for her. Dominating the league last season with over 250 points(g/a), Ivy has already started hot with 31 goals and 17 assists. Ivy is a complete player who can play as an attacking midfielder and essentially anywhere across the frontline. She combines her technical ability with her physical stature to play the game at her pace and style wether she gets goals herself or controls the game with the ball at her feet. She will look to keep leading Commerce to the top one again and continue its dominance.
(MF) Casey Maddox Casey Maddox M Shiloh (GA) | 2024 GA , Shiloh HS
Another ranked player and 17th in her position, Casey is no slouch and her numbers speak to that. Already committed to the University of Houston, her ability as a player was seen and pounced upon early. Coming in with an impressive 16 goals and 18 assists, she’s everything you need in a modern-day midfielder. She can progress the ball on the dribble, pick out a pass and control the game on the defensive side as well. Her ability to win the ball high up the field and then on the dribble go straight to goal is what makes her so dangerous. She’s extremely direct and dynamic and quite hard to stop when she builds up steam. She and her teammate Blanca will be to Shiloh’s success this season.
(MF) Anabel Orozco Anabel Orozco F Fayette County (GA) | 2023 State GA , Fayette County HS
Another Prepsoccer player who just missing out on the rankings but is already making a strong case for herself. With only 6 games into the season, she already has 16 goals and assists she is starting off straight out of the gate. She is a complete and dynamic player and controls the game from midfield but also put out an impressive offensive output with late runs into the box, goals from distance, and set pieces. She keeps her team ticking along and knows when to speed or slow things up depending on what her team needs. Her form will be a big factor in what Fayette County is able to accomplish this season.
